You may try booting into recovery and wiping the caches.

And this is why I quit rooting and romming Android phones/ tablets 2 years ago. The time it take to do it properly just isnt worth it. Nor is it worth it to keep doing full wipes and resetting everything up again, even with Titanium backup. Then once I finally have everything the way I want it, a feel a new/better rom is out 3 weeks later. Stock Android just doesnt need much now like it did 2 years ago.
Anyway, 5.0.1 has made my Nexus 9 even snappier. The hardware on the device is nothing special, but boy does it fly now. The K1 can handle everything I throw at it.

Now that I'm over the barrier of having done it once, I think next time will go a lot smoother.

I like using the app nandroid Manager instead of titanium. With NM you can restore directly from a nandroid backup.

I wouldn't own an Android if I didn't root.
And it takes about 30 seconds if you Know what you're doing.

It takes 10 minutes just to load a rom! I dont see how you can say it takes no time. Plus the time to learn what rom and kernel are best for you and are most stable.
I understand it if it is your hobby, it was once mine. Now my hobby is limited to just having a nice stock android device and keeping up with the latest news regarding them.

Not for me, takes maybe a few minutes between flashing and restoring. Very easy.
Much better performance and battery life too.

So, I may have discovered a deal breaker with this Rastapop ROM. I'd grown fond of OK Google Everywhere and being able to activate it when the screen was off. Natively, this ROM doesn't support it, but someone posted the files that are needed to enable it, so I copied those to the appropriate places. Only problem is, it works everywhere, except when the screen is actually off, UNLESS you plug the phone in.
Kind of a nitpick, but I was using OK Google like crazy with the screen off.

Me too. Bring my phone in the bathroom while i shower, feel like listening to music - "ok google, play music" or "play [name of band]"
In the kitchen "OK google, how many tablespoons are in a half cup?"
In the morning "OK google, what is the temperature outside?"
All while i'm doing other things. It's really, REALLY handy.

Ah, that's a bummer.
Works great on the ROM I'm using, Elix-R.
You may try it if you want to. It's features are listed in the thread.

Wait, you recommended a rom you weren't even using?
I'll try it tonight. I needs my ok google everywhere.

It's the most popular rom out right now and I had used it for a few days, I've tried about 4 roms already.

Some people change ROMS like they change their underwear. Literally. Especially in early software release new device release due to different ROM devs doing different things as it evolves.
I mean I can remember days when I would flash 4 ROMS in one day because they were new and all had different features. It's all part of the geeky fun.
This is sort of the nature of the Nexus line of a lot of devs with relatively easy development means lots of options.
Enjoy

So, when flashing ROM to ROM, I need to wipe the Data partition in addition to cache, right?

Oh and did you ever install AdAway since you're rooted?
Blocks ads on the phone including in most apps that charge to remove ads. It's fantastic.

There's also a major sound enhancement install if you want it but at the moment it requires a couple of things to get working on Lollipop, very easy, but not just a flash install and done type of thing yet.
Does make the speakers much much better, but it's more so for Bluetooth speakers and headphones.
Viper4android.

Highly recommend it if you listen to music much.

So, this will improve bluetooth sound on my car stereo? Does it have presets? I've seen it, but never felt the need to mess with it.
Posted on 12/12/14 at 4:58 pm to h0bnail
Yes, greatly.
I use it with my soundbar setup over Bluetooth, night and day difference.
And yes many presets.
