Well, the app is gmail, but I'm trying to add my work account which requires activesync. Using the credentials I entered into the iphone years ago is not working.
EDIT: Got it to work by downloading activesync support apk

already unlocked the bootloader the manual way. Not ready to root yet though.
Just trying to figure out some shite. Some stuff is not nearly as intuitive. For example, I find this gmail app, which can handle all mail accounts, to be inferior to the iPhone's mail app. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Another thing is it's not immediately apparent how to delete a mail account I've set up. In my exchange account, I entered my email as ".con" instead of .com at some point I suppose (how the frick am I receiving email in the first place?), and changing it is impossible it seems. I have to delete the whole account. Once I figure out how to do that. (EDIT: Figured it out)
I do hope the native mail app is the worst thing about Android.

Or, perhaps, the iPhone seems intuitive because you've used it for so long?
I always used the native mail app on the other Androids I had. Since they mashed it together with gmail, I'm probably going to find another app.

Absolutely, I'm used to it and appreciate its simplicity. On the other hand, if I hated iOS's mail app, there wouldn't be much I could do about it.

New minor annoyance: In the phone app, under contacts, it displays all of my contacts, not just the ones from Google. It shows all of my work contacts, which is essentially everyone I've ever e-mailed externally, plus the hundreds of people who work for the company. I don't want to see those when I'm trying to scroll down for a contact to dial. In the actual contacts app, I can display just my Google contacts, but that's not an option in the phone app. The workarounds are to just use favorites for calling, or to make Exchange not sync the contacts. The latter workaround is less desirable, because I still want them on my phone so that I can auto-complete email addresses.

I just opened my box and am setting up my phone now.

I used to keep all my personal contacts in exchange because it was magic hour never lost them even when I would reset my ancient Nokia.
However I painstakingly made the decision a year ago to finally move them to gmail and deal with all the accumulated gmail 'garbage' contacts.
Very glad I did. Then I had to make them go away forever from exchange which seemed to take longer than it should have.
Ilike.. You are a power user so you are going to be annoyed for weeks until you have your android dialed in. It was difficult for me to transition from windows mobile and I swear there are still things that os did better 6 years ago than android does now.
Just embrace the change and soon you'll forget about the transition.
Oh and definitely get familiar with Google keep. Best thing ever.

Also, it appears that your pandora hack thing isn't working on this OS. I tried to install it straight from your attachment and it just says "app not installed" (I did enable non-google play apps in settings).

I heard my Pandora hack was working on 5.0. I'll have to wait and see until I get mine tomorrow or Saturday.
I'll take down my Drive link until then.

Yeah, that was me. Didn't work on my N4 anyway.
ETA: No dice on N6 either.

Would one of you guys want to test my 5.5 Pandora mod and tell me if it works on the N6/5.0?
Posted on 11/20/14 at 5:31 pm to UltimateHog
Sure, I'll give it a shot. Give me a link.

I take that as an all good sign?

Works perfectly on Nexus 6 here. Did you make it or find it somewhere? And if you made it, how? This shite is all new to me.
