Negative Google reviews

My business has all legitimate 5 star reviews. We've just been hit with 2 one star reviews with no explanation or discussion; from people or companies we've ever heard of.
Google refuses to take them down & my SEO guy says it's a competitor behind it trying to knock down our Ad rankings.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to get these things removed or deal with them?

I think you're SOL if Google won't review them, but responding to the review (generally but esp in case of negative ones) is very important.

Don't sweat them. Reviews are a flawed system anyways

Only thing you can do at this point to get a shite ton of positive reviews and it will push those 1 stars down and out of regular views.

If you know for sure it’s a competitor I would find as many friends as I could to pound their reviews into the sand. I would keep it up as well. Every month hit them.

My business got review bombed once. Someone had their entire family put the same damn review and google didn't care. The 6 negative reviews didn't really hurt, we had like 1300 5 star reviews because we engaged with our customers a lot on social media but it was annoying.

I like when a company replies to the review publicly with something like "Please contact our blah-blah department so that we understand and address your issue."

As a consumer, I look at the number of reviews by a reviewer. I ignore bad reviews by someone with only a few reviews. The important ones are from local ambassadors with lots of different reviews.

The problem is it affects my ad rankings . Google algorithms take into account ratings when ranking your ads.

Your competitor is paying google more for ad space than you are.

Add in a "we can't find where you purchased anything or used any of our services" and everyone should realize that the review was fake.
