My boss initiated a conference call with Achieveit, a company that provides an online portal to manage the execution of strategy.

At the end of the call they hit us with a disgustingly high price for an application that has limited purposes.

I am currently researching cheaper alternatives that I hope to present before my boss decides we should we engage in a contract with Achieveit.

Does anyone have any experience with Achieveit or similar solutions?

We are an Office365 shop, would Microsoft Project be a good alternative? I have not used that program myself and it would be an add-on to our current O365 subscriptions.

yes thats essentially it.

The ability to have log/group comments, shared docs for each task, deadlines and calendar, email notifications.

Major Tasks/Goals should be able to have smaller focused tasks below it such as:

Major task/Goal: Increase revenue
subtask: investigate/deploy solutions to develop new customers...then assign an employee with a deadline

A pretty simple app i've used is Asana.

asana.com

It may be missing some things but there are plugins you can use. It's also free for a certain amount of users. It can be loaded on multiple platforms and mobile devices also.

I was going to recommend JIRA as well. They do Kanban boards and such (visual interpretation of "who has what" whether that be defects or tasks, etc). JIRA has other modules and stuff to add on to it's main JIRA tool. It's all relatively cheap too based on your team size.

ETA: And there's a trial you can do online that would be a trial run to see if you like it or it meets your needs.

I'm told that Office365 has a "groups" function that provides communication, storage, and other features geared for this sort of thing. Also, it includes a light project management utility that can be helpful for what you describe. Want me to look further into it?

I've been looking through our application suite within office365 and do not see a product like the one you mentioned.

My apps available (besides the major apps):

Delve
Video
OneNote
Sway
PowerApps
Flow
Dynamics365
Yammer

I played around with Flow and PowerApps but do not think it would be useful for the purposes I need in this thread

I will second base camp. We used the cheaper version of the software for a project a few years ago.

Office 365 has a new product called Team. I just read the product overview, but it appears to be similar to what you described.

SharePoint team sites are so yesterday.

Kidding aside, there are some YouTube videos on Office365 groups vs. SharePoint team sites and they shed light on the capabilities. From there, you should be able to determine whether it can meet your needs.

we've been using Basecamp as well at work for a project we've been doing. I'm not really involved in it, but based on the knowledge of a lot of the people using it...it's really freakin' easy to use

You can do all of that with Basecamp for like $50 a month
