Microsoft Office 2021

Grandson has a birthday coming up, currently a freshman in high school. We got him a new laptop, and being in high school thought Office might come in handy. Not gonna pay for Office 365, that's why we were wondering about 2021.
I see there are a bunch of resellers out there, with prices all over the place. Groupon, Ebay and digital stores. Anyone have experience buying on the secondary market? We see prices from around $30 to the low $100's. Any help will be appreciated. .

I’ve always used LibreOffice as a nice free alternative.

The secondary market is fine. I bought a copy of Windows 11 Pro for $13 or so and it activated fine.
Office means nothing to him, in nearly all certainty. His school work (not sure the state) is probably done on a Chromebook anyway.
If anything, get him a DropBox or similar file syncing subscription if he actually creates anything outside of the Chromebook school ecosystem. Libre Office is perfectly fine, but nobody knows what "backing up" their data even means anymore. Dropbox (you don't get OneDrive with 2021 without paying for it) can fix that problem.

He gets access to 365 or google through his school. There's no reason to buy it.
