I want to put in a wired camera system on my house. I feel like I read everything I could and am down to either Lorex or Swann. What is everyone's preference?

Had 4 of 6 SWANN camera's get water in them within a year. Contacted customer service - I was days over a year from the date I ordered the cameras system - not when I received it an opened the box to install.

They denied my warranty claim and refused to respond to any further emails I sent them to try to clarify...

AVOID

Any dollar I can deny them will be worth the effort to type this.

I have Laview, its been pretty good so far and easy to set up. I think all of them have about the same reviews and use the same hardware with different names stamped on it.

I have nest cameras and I love them for their ease. Quick to setup and everything is stored on the cloud. Alert systems is fantastic.

Hikvision

I installed 11 Hikvision 3 years ago and have had zero issues with any of them.

I built my own DVR with spare parts but had to upgrade to an I5 CPU because the cameras had my AMD 8-core cpu pegged at 100%. Just Fyi if you want to build your own DVR. Use an intel cpu.

ETA: my cpu hums at 25% with all cameras running at 25 FPS

It looks like both of these are sold as individual pieces, meaning the cameras, cables and recorder aren't sold together. Is that correct?

All the preboxed setups are similar and even the guts in the box and camera are similar.

Swann, Hikvision, Samsung, Lorax, Nightowl, etc..

Ive had Swann for years, no issues.
