I see you’ve changed your tune from the cost of the cable to the spec of the cable.

Not being a hardass, you wondered why you were being downvoted so I responded.

I could tell from your first response what you were trying to do which is why I sarcastically responded about a composite cable.
The thread OP was about outrageous Diamond cables and other ridiculous "high quality cables" of the same HDMI version/spec as others but purported to show better picture quality.

While I tend to be a cables are cables persons excluding a poorly made or defective cable HDMI is a cable set you do have to match to the application and unless you are savvy you may not even realize the cable is not working correctly in your application. For example, you have to match your bit rate to the cable, HDMI has been/is available in multiple "speeds" (4.95 Gbps 10.2Gbps 18Gbps and 48Gbps) For 8K@120Hz, Dynamic HDR, eARC, AOC, YCbCr 4:4:4 you need a 48Gbps cable, a 50' run of 48Gbps will run about $250 from direct sellers like Monoprice. Using a lower bit rate cable is likely to cause the hardware to downgrade the signal to match the cable.

The other issue with HDMI is cable length when you get over 20' you may encounter issues that require you to use either active HDMI cables or convert HDMI to Cat5/6 for the majority of the run.

All that said $1K HDMI cables are snake-oil UNLESS you need a very high bit rate and a VERY long run not normally seen in household home theaters.

I admit, this is not where I expected this thread to go when I posted about $1300 HDMI cables

I don't see how anything I said contradicts that unless you deliberately trying to be contradictory. If you feel the need to "attack" people on the board because you perceive (but obviously don't know) they "don't know what they're talking about" then you need to log off the board and find something better to do with your time.

I stand by everything I wrote in laymen's terms. If you want to get more technical, obviously HDMI cables rated for later version of the spec will have the bandwidth to support higher resolutions, refresh rates, color depth, etc. audio return, ethernet, etc. but as you yourself said earlier in the thread if a coat hanger is capable of transferring the data it will transfer. No one in this thread actually thinks HDMI is transferring CVBS dude

From the comments...

I love this cable. Crystal clear audio and video. My only problem was that the instruction manual was very vague and misguiding. Long story short, I got it stuck in my urethra.

Different cables have different signal integrity qualities. These signals in the cable are digital, but doesn't mean the voltage levels conducted are perfect ones and zeroes. Poor shielding , coupling, drive strentgh as well as transmission line mismatch can cause reflections between the conductors. This can cause voltage overshoots, undershoots, timing issues and bits to be flipped and information to be corrupted.

Now I cannot say picture quality will change, but different cables can perform differently.
