Just got the Iphone X

Have only had Samsungs and when my last one S5(no complaints) died in my pocket the day before my birthday, I decided to give the Iphone a shot. Girlfiend has Iphone X and her phone seems to work better than mine on a consistent basis. So far I really like Imessage and the camera, but nothing else has really blown my mind. Seeing if there are any apps I need to download, and any I need to get rid of (iBooks, Podcasts, Keynote, Garageband, Clips, Numbers, Pages, Imovie, ItunesU). Can't really see myself using most of these, would just use a computer for this kind of stuff. And widgets or tools to add to the control center to make life easier. Any advice would be appreciated.

My most used apps:
-Google Calendar
-Sonos (if you have any)
-Google Keep
-Life360 (we like it better than Find my Friends
The rest of my stuff just pertains to my bank stuff and other crap. Honestly, the iPhone is probably simpler than you're going to like but the damn thing just works.
iMessage is the best sms/text tool there is on the market and FaceTime is the best video chat service.
It's easy and the damn thing just works and never gets sluggish and bogged down like I experience with my previous Samsungs.

It's a smart phone. At this point they all do more or less the same thing.

I think the flashlight is now in the control center by default, if not add it. You should also add Magnifier. It lets you use your camera to zoom in on things like hard to read printed text.

Except for that whole thing where Apple deliberately slowed down iPhones and killed battery life in order to drive people to upgrading...

I'm being told it has less lag and freezing and just seems like an overall smoother experience. It works on Apple devices as well. I haven't tried it yet because my wife isn't really techie so I just use facetime when I travel but I am tempted to use it.
FaceTime is the best video chat service

You're saying her iPhone X worked better than you Samsung S5? Color me shocked.

I see, so slowing the phone down kills the battery, right?

Consider...
You have an iPhone X.
I have a Sailfish X Phone, Linux Laptop, and a Roku.
The total cost of your phone is probably twice the total cost of all the tech I own...

Phone is great but goddamn it’s slow as frick refreshing apps and safari. Anyone else find this or is this iOS update just shite? I can be connected to fricking NASA’s wifi and if i try and refresh insta or fb or a TD page it just loads and loads until I have to close and reopen.

I don't have this problem. How often does this happen? Should have your assistant bring it in to Apple and get them to replace the phone.

Interesting that you prefer Android apps on IOS. Not that’s there’s anything wrong with that.
Not shocked that your Samsung phones went to crap. They are notorious for that. There are better android options out there

Happened to my wife's iphone 7, when the phone showed 15% it would just die. And their plan worked she got the X but they all do it I just upgraded my Note 8 to latest software and battery life is terrible now. I'll be upgrading to the 9 when it comes out so essentially their plan worked which is why I just pay for Jump on Tmo so I can upgrade every year without having to pay my phone off. I really dont care because I always want the new device

Definitely happened on my 6. Thing would go from 70% to low power mode in twenty minutes.

As opposed to pushing out OS updates that would make older phones clunky and frustrating to use?
Six of one, half dozen of the other.

What are we supposed to consider? Are you trying to brag or asking us to make fun of you?

The X is certainly intriguing but no home button turns me off.
Currently have a 7 with 128gb. All of that space really comes in handy.
I'm thinking an 8 or 8+ with 256gb.

Just got an X and I love it. I have to say, I don’t even miss the home button a little. I honestly forgot it was even a thing before you mentioned it - it’s that seamless.
