I don’t just mean just a vpn and turning your location tracking off, but I mean is there any way to use your phone without your BILL reflecting where you were for the government to review ? Or to show that you were somewhere else ? How would a spy accomplish this- actually leaving a RECORD that you were somewhere where you were not. Say showing you were in Germany when you were actually in Slovenia ( pick your spots). This may or not be related to me going to prison for life for tax fraud lol.

Is this impossible ? Educabate me , Tech Gods.

Lol, Tin foil? I’m not hiding from Google / Deep State because of some conspiracy to destroy me by the UFO people . I’m just legitimately asking if it’s possible for your call to be recorded as somewhere else than where it actually originated through some technological device. Jesus man , stuff your spilled uterus back in your body.

Your phone is sending UE measurement data 24/7, and then once out of IDLE mode, sending UECapability data to nearby BTS's. Ergo, unless you plan on not using your phone, people will know where you were.

Thank you. That’s all I wanted. An answer. There is no way to mask your location.

And George, Im pretty sure we already had the ladyboy discussion on my last trip to Thailand. You should know there are burner phone kiosks at the airport in BKK for dirt cheap. I will admit under penalty of law, that they can be more beautiful than the women due to the hormone mega doses , but alas they are just good old Thai baws with frank and beans in the end. So it’s a reluctant no for me. Although I won’t judge you, George. Let me know how it goes.

The cell phone companies still know where you are because you have to use their infrastructure for your phone to work. Phones have a sim card that you can think of kind of like your internet IP address. It's how the phone companies know how to route your calls to your phone.

This PDF shows how international roaming works. Your information is sent to 3 different entities as part of international roaming, your Home Provider, say AT&T, an International Transit Service, someone AT&T contracts with to get it coverage in other countries, and the Local Provider, say Slovenia Wireless.

LINK

To make your phone appear to be in Germany instead of Slovenia would require high level hacking probably of all 3. What you want to do might be doable for a spy with the CIA backing it up, but for a person that asks the Tech Board for help, your only option is going to be just avoiding detection by leaving your phone at home and taking a burner phone.

Great info to give Tiger, that information is passed at the EPC (Evolved Packet Core). The measurement data and literally any data session is picked up at the RAN Air Interface and passed through S1 to the MME and then to the EPC.

Hence why hackers build S1-U sniffers to not only breakthrough the IPsec tunnel but also basic bearers before reaching the EPC (which is infinitely more secure).

But you can buy cheap SIM cards in any country....using cash so not traceable. Pop that sim In Your phone and I'm not sure anyone could track you.

There’s also the IMEI (International Mobility Equipment Identity). If the SIM is kind of like your IP address the IMEI is like your MAC address, a unique hardware identification number. The wireless companies track and use this too:

quote:

GSM networks use the IMEI number to identify valid devices, and can stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can have their network provider use the IMEI number to blacklist the phone. This renders the phone useless on that network and sometimes other networks, even if the thief changes the phone's subscriber identity module (SIM).

LINK

In the scenario the OP provided he’s trying to avoid government level tracking. They no doubt would know his phone’s IMEI as well.

Jailbreak your iPhone, and you can change the IMEI

Yes, there is a button on the outer rim of the phone. Right before you leave the house, hold that button down and then choose to power off. When you return home, hold that button down again. Now no one will ever know you were gone....except for that passport scan, credit cards, hotel rooms, ect.

While changing your MAC ID can be done it is entirely frowned upon and may cause issues in connectivity in the network.

Edit: Here's a basic Control Plane message (just m2m talking)

As you can see I have essentially the entire picture of what the phone is doing, its IP address, the MME it has hit, and the MNC/MCC.
