Is the glass on the iP Xs a gamer changer compared to the X?

I'm upgrading my 6s, and I don't want a much bigger phone. I think a steel frame is good since my current screen is broken from pressure in my pocket, just from the ear slot up though.

Buy an X off of eBay for $750, Xs for $1000 from ATT.

Strongest glass ever on a phone...

I've watched drop tests and...yup it's still glass.

As pretty as that glass is, I protected mine.

I ended up buying a Caudabe "The Sheath" case. Minimalist and shock-absorbing case, but provides a great amount of protection. Plus the case "feels" right.

I like this company so much that I ordered a clear case for my XS as well. Waiting for it come in.

That clear case is cool. I'm ordering my son an Xr, so that'll be perfect.

I'm a no phone case person, but $599 to replace the back glass has me questioning my sure grip. I haven't had a phone case in years, I usually just change the screens myself. I already know how to change the front glass and screen, if you could get them, for the Xs...but the back glass likely takes removing every single component from the phone and the use of special bonding agents. It's basically integral to the frame. Scary shite.

Reminds me, I took every component out of my 5 to install 'bamboo' where the glass was on the back. What a PITA that was.

I've researched a lot of cases. Yes, I know. Most clear cases will "yellow." The Caudabe won't. Also, if you use the extension "Honey" for Chrome, it will find a discount for you when checking out at Caudabe.

Runners up, in case you aren't 100 % sold on Caudabe are Ringke, RhinoShield and Spigen.

It's expensive, that's for sure. I don't have insurance or Apple care on my phone, so that's why I go with a higher quality, more protective case -- and I add a glass screen protector on the phone as well.

Damn. Normal drop or pressure?

by pressure do you mean did I throw it on the ground?

No, it was a normal drop on a not smooth parking lot. It landed on the corner so there is some nice spider webbing on the bottom left of the screen. I guess it fell on a pebble or something at just the right spot.

I've had a Spigen Spigen [Liquid Crystal] Ultra-Thin [Crystal Clear] for my 7+ after a while it ended up turning yellow also creating micro-abrasions on the Jet Black finish.

I received my Lucid Clear for XS (from Caudabe) yesterday. As great as "The Sheath" model is for the iPhone (it's honestly the best case I have ever used) - the Lucid Clear is equally ... as bad.

An ultra slim, crystal clear case manufactured from the same impact resistant thermoplastic polymer used in bulletproof glass. Lucid Clear is perfect for protecting against everyday drops while showing off your iPhone's sleek design in stunning clarity. Compatible with wireless charging.

I'm returning it. Hard plastic (unlike Sheath's gel-like, flexible polymer), slippery and it doesn't budge or give. I ended up cracking my protective glass screen protector sliding it off and on.

Just wanted to warn you. YMMV but for me, it's a no go on the Lucid Clear case.

I'm going to take a closer look at clear case options from Ringke, RhinoShield and Spigen.

Edited to add:

THE VEIL XT may be a better solution from Caudabe.

Impossibly thin and designed to closely mimic the form and feel of your iPhone. Perfect for the discerning minimalist looking for an ultra thin iPhone XS case to protect against scratches and minor bumps. As featured in the Wall Street Journal, Macworld, 9to5Mac, and BGR.

I was really torn on what case to get for my Xs Max. I was coming from a 7 that had a very minimal spigen case. So with the increase in phone size I wanted a smaller case still but didn’t know what to get.

I ended up just getting one of the Apple brand leather cases. A little pricey compared to a spigen but I LOVE it. The buttons on the side are a hard plastic so they feel good from the case. The case started out a little slippery feeling. But now that I’ve had it a month the leather has broken in a little and has great grip.

This will be the case I buy for every iPhone going forward.

I’ve had the opposite experience. They are not durable at all. My wife’s is already ruined, and mine is showing wear. I’m very disappointed considering the price point.

It’s leather, it will show signs of wear almost immediately.

I've used these on every one of my iphones since the 5, you must be extremely clumsy with your phone and your wife is a woman, so I know she is hard on the phones.

Mine barely show wear besides normal leather usage type wear when I replace the phone.

Pretty durable in my experience, although they're leather so they certainly show wear.

Depending on what color you get that could be a good thing or a bad thing.

I agree with the other poster about them being great cases. Great fit, thin, machined buttons and have survived a bunch of drops with no phone damage. I'm on my second one for my second iPhone

The phone seems bulky compared to my 6s, and a bit heavier. The glass back is ‘stickier’ than the aluminum back was, so it doesn’t seem hard to hold on to. I haven’t had a case for years, so I think I’m going to brave it without one.

The Apple cases have a warranty, 1 year if I recall. My wife was able to replace hers. They need to be able to read the serial #.
