Got a local home cinema place to quote me on surround sound. Want to mount a TV on a stone fireplace which is slightly difficult. Home is already pre-wired but the setup is atrocious. Best bet is just to use the wireless Sonos system which I knew was expensive but the $5700 quote I received was somewhat shocking. Granted it does include the mounting on stone, some touchscreen remote, etc. I'll probably end up getting just the basics now and adding the bells and whistles later but is that system worth the cost?

What Sonos pieces does that get you? If it's a playbar, a sub, and a couple of 1's then probably not. Also remember all of those speakers still need power. I can tell you the that the company doing the work makes better money installing a traditional set up.

That isn't worth it - doesn't even have 1s for surround. The soundbar and woofer is worth 1400 though.

I would shop around. You're getting railed on some of those per piece prices.

I have no idea.
I'm gonna go over everything with them tomorrow and see what they're thinking.

I don't think that is a crazy price. The connect amp is $35 above retail though. The TV mount seems high too but he could be using a higher end mount considering the location. You get what you pay for with the labor. There is a reason why some guys demand more money than others. Still going to need an amp/speakers and another set of speakers for the connect and connect amp.

So all of these are pretty standard? None are better than the others?

That description covers a couple models. In generic terms the circle APs are the consumer model and the square ones are enterprise models.

The enterprise ones will have more capabilities, but I'm not sure it's needed in a home setting.

you are paying $700 just for the remote control and programming. I just bought a ligitech harmony 700 for $40 that could control all those things and programmed it myself in 5 minutes.

Have you ever mounted a tv on stone? It's a complete pain in the arse to do it correctly. We also don't know if he needs power or cables installed behind the tv. $600 is not outrageous at all for installing a tv on stone.

Everything there is about a full days work. If I can't get $1400 profit at least for a day I don't consider the job. It takes money to run a legitimate company.
