Ive been on these 3 phones for the last several years because it has everything i need on it and havent needed the newer models necessarily. With that said, it is unbelievable the amount of new charging chords ive had to buy. Does anyone else have this issue?

Just plugged it in my 10 foot chord at work and it wont charge my phone. Went and got the one out of my car and it works fine. Tested the chord on a coworkers phone and no charge either. I got this pack of chargers from costco 2 months ago and its already not charging phones. Whats the deal?!?!

I shouldnt be paying >$20 for a temporary chord. It also is a chord that hasnt been unplugged since I got it.

I might need to look into paying more for something sturdier but havent looked deep enough. Anyone with some insight would be appreciated.

It took me a long time to learn to play B-minor on my guitar.

Quit spending so much on a cable. Even the pricier ones I've had over the years eventually crap out within a year. And it isn't the USB end that goes bad, it is where it connects into your phone. They get all bent up when charging and the thin wires inside go bad.

I thought I had solved the problem around Christmas when I ordered a multipack that had magnetic connections you leave in the phone. Supposedly the mag connection would allow it to swivel some. It came with Lightning, Micro USB, and USB-C/Thunderbolt connections. Several of each. Within a month, the one my wife was using went bad. Thought it was the connection, but it was the cable. I tried my phone, our iPad, our Airpods, and some Kindle tablets. None of them worked with that cable, but worked fine on another cable from the pack. I just buy multipacks from Amazon a couple times a year for less than $10.

appreciate your response. I assume you are saying to just buy cheap cables and take my losses vs getting apple or another sub-par brand of cables?

With that said, yeah Ive always assumed it was the part connecting to the phone. The chargers on the iphone 4-6 (i think. It was the wider part) were always solid no matter how long I used it. It’s a shame i have to believe the conspiracy that they hope the chords go out after a while so people have to buy more of their product.

Edit: why hasnt anybody sold a product that lasts longer than 3-6 months GUARANTEED that is more expensive than the shite apple and its constituents have sold? I never seem to see any warranty on chords for the iphone, yet you see it for most other tech products.

The simple answer is there is too much variance in how each user treats their cables. Such a guarantee on anything reasonably priced would put that company out of business.

Anker claims this will last 12000 bends. And reviews are strong.

The micro port on mine is so bad new cables slip right out a few days after light use. So I just bought a wireless charger. I won't get another phone with micro charging.

I typically buy the Anker Nylon cables. They seem to hold up well, haven’t had to throw any away in a couple of years.

Yeah I forgot to mention I almost exclusively use my wireless charge pad. The wife and daughter have to have the “cute” cases on their phone so it won’t charge theirs.

Years ago, I bought some 3rd party cheap braided lightning cables for my device thinking they would last longer than the cables I was using. And I liked the way they looked. After a month, they quit working. So no more 3rd party cheap junk for me. I'm only buying cables from a trusted name like Anker. I have many Anker products, and am fairly happy with each.

Another thing I don't like about micro cables is the prongs on the end of the cable wear down fairly quickly, and easily slip out of my charger. So when I was looking for a speaker for my phone last month, I wasn't buying one unless it used USB C cables. It was disappointing how many newer speakers still had micro charging. I bought an Anker Soundcore Plus with USB C charging, and like it so far.

As far as wireless chargers, the ones I have will still charge your phone with a case as long as the case is less than 5 mm. My old phone is a piece of junk that has a lot of damage, so I never bother putting a case on it. The only regret I have is not buying a charger that was USB C.
