iPhone 17 - anyone have a preorder in? What model/color?

Finally upgrading from my iPhone 12. I did not get the iPhone 12 at launch, but maybe 2-3 years ago as my upgrade at the time. I never get the latest/newest phone and would be fine with older models if the batteries would be worth a shite years down the road.
I bought it outright from Apple so it's unlocked out of the box and will just transfer everything from my current phone.
Went with base iPhone 17 in black. Ordered a Liquid Air Spigen case in Matte Black. I initially preordered the blue but realized I really am not a fan of those pastel colors in certain lighting from what I could find online. Can’t go wrong with black even though it’s a bit boring.

I never buy black phones. Too much heat absorption. The charging spot in my explorer sucks, because th front of the phone (black) catches all the sun through my windshield, and it’ll freeze up invariably when I actually need directions.
If they still had the red phone, I would have upgraded, from my 13, but the colors have been blah for a few models.

I had a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 11 and loved it. Yeah, I do not know about the iPhone 17 colors. Even the black is more like a grey to me. Also, not sure why they elected to go with pastels. I like the Mist Blue but in certain lighting I just don’t. Elected to cancel my preorder of that and just go with tried and true black.

Deep Blue 17 Pro coming in FedEx today.
That's interesting though. Never occurred to me to get a lighter colored one to help with heat absorption etc. Course I almost always put it in a black case anyway.

Dug a bit more on that and found this response from a Reddit topic:
If the phone is black, it'll be better at radiating out the heat it generates, and also at capturing the heat that radiates on to it.
That means it'll get less hot idling in the sun if it's [a] white [phone], and run less hot being busy in the shade when black.
In the grand scheme of things, it probably won't make a difference.

My Pro just came in. Noticeably lighter due to the switch to aluminum for better heat dissipation. Fingers crossed on the 20% better battery life.

I like that dark blue. Canceled my base blue for black though. Just couldn’t get over the pastel.

I got a black 17 yesterday. So far so good. UPS dropped it off and it was very hot. I almost immediately started the transfer and it went well. But got a message saying it would not charge until it cooled down some. Gave my 14 Pro to my son. He was still using my 8, so he is happy. I didn’t need the extra cameras in the 17 pro. The Air was intriguing but went with the lower cost 17.
This phone is too slick. I have a case coming tomorrow. Been this way for awhile with each new Apple release. Adding a grippier surface would go against the idea of thinner etc

Upgraded my 12 to the Air.
Waiting for a case to come in from Amazon before I decide to keep it, or, drop down to 17.

Yep. Went great. Left the house at 11 to go tailgating. Got home a little while ago, and it's 10:30. I checked and I'm at 66% battery.

My deep blue 17 Pro came in on Friday. Also ordered a Raptic aramid cover, but I felt it left the screen too exposed. Swapped it for a beefier Raptic Shield that I like better.

It's a beautiful phone, the battery is definitely meh though and I'm a low battery user.

I upgraded just from the 16 Pro Max and it’s noticeably faster
It was crazy how quick I was switching through games on ESPN app Saturday.
I’m on it all day for work in the field in my company expenses our phone so I’m on the next up plan with AT&T where I get a new one every year
