With today’s wireless tech their isn’t any reason to run Cat cable through your house if you have a good mesh system
This is like 99% true, the mesh system part is where you lose me. You just need one good AP and you have absolutely no need for hardwired in a home.

You plug your wireless into theirs and your off. I’m using Amazon EERO 6 and it’s so easy your 12 yr old could set it up.

Wifi has nothing to do with fiber
If someone has 200Mb fiber and they're expecting wif7 speeds, it does..
i know what you mean, but most don't care..Wifi = internnetz

The only problem I have had with my fiber is the line was hanging low over the street one morning.. I walked back in my house to call ATT then I noticed the router started blinking red all of a sudden... It turns out a "friendly" neighbor had decided to roll/coil up the fiber cable and attach it better to my house.. When I went back out he was there and acting all helpful... I didn't say anything but had to wait till the next day to get it fixed.. New wire from pole to my house.. Didn't cost me anything just a little red arse... Don't ever coil up the fiber wire...

My question is related so I'll ask here instead of starting a new thread. We also have ATT Fiber with the 1 gig plan. For wifi, I'm usually getting around 200-250 mbps. I know you lose a bit of speed using wifi, but should it drop that much? I just use the modem/router BGW210 that they installed for us. My house is only one floor and not that big at around 1700 sq ft. Would I be better off getting a mesh system or would a better router be good enough?

Fiber is fine to roll, as long as it's done somewhat loosely

Probably has shite wifi. The newer one is actually decent, but still not as good as dropping in your own AP or mesh system

Could be the router, your device you are measuring on or both

From my research, I saw ATT will only give you a newer model if the old one is no longer sold or if you move to a bigger plan, which I really don't need. Do you have any suggestions for a mesh system? Are the ones on Amazon good enough?

Mesh? I don’t like extenders.
I’ve hated att internet since the first dial up days.
ATT fiber is the bees knees.

I accidentally damaged the fiber coming into my house last year and they came out and fixed it, swapped out the 210 for a 320? And I dropped service speed down to their 300 plan all around the same time.
Think I could get away with a 100 plan if they offer that.

Depends on 1000 things.

I don’t know the specs of that router but clients in use today are typically wifi6 2x2 80mHz like iPhone 12-15. That’s good for 650mbps anywhere in same room or maybe 400mbps one room over.
Laptops and high end android phones past few years have 160MHz radios and should be close to gigabit same room or 600 one room over.
The biggest killer of bandwidth is using wireless mesh backhaul, especially if only ax3000. Than can cut 90% of speed between distance and congestion but may still enable streaming and general use at great distance. Not useless, but far from optimal.

I’ll piggyback off of this thread too.
I’ve had ATT Fiber 1gig for years and have 3 Deco M9+ mesh pucks placed throughout. I’ve had those for years too. Is it worth looking to upgrade to something newer?

Only if you will utilize it.

I use it now…what do you mean by this?

It is quite simple. It is only worth getting new wifi equipment if they have new features you will "utilize." If you are just going to keep doing what you have been doing, then what would upgrading do other than lighten your wallet? Nothing.
