I tried using friend's acct but I was never asked for any kind of usernames or password. You are asked to choose a provider, once chosen it just works. Where are you supposed to enter a username and password?

My friend has never logged onto his acct via the internet either so that's creating a problem as well. He doesn't know what his username and password are.

Any ideas?

If it works, what's the problem?

What device?

WatchESPN will use your "TV Provider" information on Apple devices, and will also remember your login if you've used it previously. Typically once you select a provider, it brings you to that provider's login screen to enter the credentials.

ETA: And stop leaching off your friends.

Trying to watch LSU games with WATCH ESPN app on FireTV. When I say it just works I mean on his computer/iPad etc.

I could be wrong but if you're buddy is using the watchespn app on an ipad or computer at the residence where the cable/internet service is provided, the app automatically confirms the credentials from the ISP through the wifi.

If you're trying to use his username/pwd and have the same company internet, it won't work. What'll you have to do is create a hotspot via cellphone and login using his credentials but since he doesn't know his credentials, you're SOL.

So the key is to sign on via LTE and log in that way and use that login. Got it.

Thanks for the help.

BTW, I'm watching the TCU/FL game on my tv with the app through ESPN3 and there is no playbyplay. Just the sounds of the game. Interdesting. Maybe I can watch LSU his way.

Some channels are free just for having certain isp. Others require login. Espnu for example should prompt a login screen.

There's content on watchespn that is available if you have a certain INTERNET provider...that's pretty much only "legacy" ESPN3

I think there's an option for Multiview or something like that which turns off the commentators.

Once logged in using the correct credentials, you can turn off your LTE and turn on your wifi.

If you just stream watch espn from Kodi no one will give you a morality speech.

TDs Moral of the story: If you are going to steal a stream feed, stream from a stranger not from a friend. You see the difference? Me neither lol

Yeah, it's funny how that works huh.

I am able to watch ESPN3 but can't hear the announcers, just the live sounds of the game. But you can damn sure hear the commercials.

All these apps log you out once in a while and force you to log back in and use a new activation code.

Okay the thing is if you are on the home network or wifi of the house that has cox then the apps, espn... automatically can recognize that once you select Cox as the provider.. which is why no login is needed.

If you aren't on the internet at his house then the login info is needed in addition to selecting the provider (cox) in this instance

Cox legally allows you to create up to 8 different cox logins.. this is a part of being a cox member so nothing wrong with taking advantage of it! It's still being paid for. We pay for cox cable and have several people here watch it. Others pay for it and never watch it so I don't see why people call it leaching or whatever. It's part of a paid account.

Any ways what he needs to do is call cox and get his login info. They can reset his password if needed too. Then he can log on his account on cox's website via web browser and go to emails and create you your own personal account to use. He can create up to 8 cox emails and all 8 will work with tv apps to sign in on such as watchespn

It's not necessary to need your own account though. There is no limit as to how many people can be signed in under the same account. I share my cox cable login with friends outside of my state.

Hope this helps. If you like I can create an account for you to use if necessary.

Hope this clears up everything for you.
