I might be rolling with this phone soon. This will be my first Android phone. I'm coming from all Iphones previously.

Should I use the Google Now launcher and get rid of Touch Wiz immediately?

Also, how hard will it be to transfer contacts?

what app should I download to be able to stay in group messages with Iphone users?

can you get rid of touch wiz?

I had the Note 4 at one time and then went back to iphones. Played around with the edge the other day and really liked it...but, I don't want any part of their touch wiz crap. Might make the switch if you can actually get rid of it.

usually switching the launcher will fix most of that.

You can't permanently get rid of Touch Wiz but you can disable it using the Google Now or Nova Launcher.

I'm mainly going to Android because its something different.

Tired of the same old stuff with Apple.

I'm also curious about the customization aspect.

I wanted to roll with the Note 7, but not sure when the new ones are going to come out after the recall.

Ditto. Same here. I no longer use iTunes, don't use apple music and use google for everything now. It makes little sense to stick with apple, EXCEPT that my issues before were the differences in 3rd party apps (apple wins this hands down from my experience) and the ease of iOS as compared to droid. iOS was smoother and user friendly without bloatware out the arse. Opposite of Samsung and the old google play store. I just assume that the google play store has caught up to apple.

I thought about the Z force by motorola, but played with one the other day and it was underwhelming.

I have played with a few of these and they are pretty awesome. TouchWiz is not nearly as bad as it was on the S4 and S5.

However, I would still avoid samsung because it is so hard if not impossible to root, unlock bootloader, and other fun stuff that rooted android allows. My suggestion would be a Moto or Nexus/Pixel. The new google phones should be announced in a few weeks.

I think I read that new ones will start becoming available approx Sept 21-- so, roughly next week. I don't know if this is accurate info or if availability will start in select places first before it's widely available.

I currently have a Note 3, which I planned on upgrading to the Note 7... Fortunately, I've always thought it not the best idea to rush out and grab a phone when first released, so I've avoided the current recall issue. It seems there's often some sort of trouble that slips past QA/QC with the first batch of a new phone model, and subsequent waves tend to be a little more stable.

It's like I'm looking in a mirror.

Patience is a virtue (when it comes to getting new phones anyway).

I love my s7 edge, had it for about 3 months now. I don't add custom software to it, so I can't comment on that. I had an S3 years back and hated the Samsung software on it, but the S7 is actually pretty nice. I love the wireless charging, and the camera is amazing.

Make sure to get a good case and screen protector immediately, my wife had hers for 1 month before breaking the screen. Worst thing I have found was that many screen protectors were not compatible with a case. I bought 3 different ones before finding one that worked well with a case.

I was just reading on a forum about the trouble with cases and the edge. People were saying there were very few quality ones out there. Do you like the one you have? Do you mind sharing which one it is?

If you want a stylus wait for the Note 7 re-release, they are basically the same phone software wise aside from the stylus. The note is supposed to have an improved camera and has a new body design that i really like. I like touchwiz so im not a hater there but their are alternative launchers to use. I assume whatever store you buy the phone from should be able to transfer your contacts and such.

The two issue I had with cases/screen protectors is that if you get a thick case, then the wireless charging doesn't work, and that most screen protectors peel up at the edge when you put a case on.

I looked and the fourth screen protector I bought was this one, it was the first one that worked with any of my cases and is still on the phone and performing well after a couple of months.

I have an inexpensive case that I use on the phone most of the time because the bigger bulky cases don't work with wireless charging.

TouchWiz sucked on the prior versions (S6 and prior) and replacing with another launcher was a necessity. But, the version that comes with the S7 (Android Marshmallow) is fine. It is fast and doesn't have all the fru fru stuff that causes issues.

That said, I would install Textra for texting and Outlook for mail. (If you have email at work, make sure you check the setting flag where it syncs your Outlook contacts to the Android contacts).

In short, this is a great all around phone out the box. I've had several Android phone and this is the best by FAR.
