re: Hisense H9G or TCL 6 series

so essentially my decision comes down to:
TCL 6 series - brighter, 120hz native, but no HDMI 2.1, more expensive
Vizio - not as bright, only 60hz, has HDMI 2.1 but what good is that at 60hz?, cheaper

I’m a big fan of the TCL Roku TV’s. Great picture. Low price.

Can someone teach me how to calibrate my TV or point me to someone to hire to do it for me

What I always do is find the owners thread on AVSForum.com and there will always be people in there who have done the professional calibration and post their settings. I usually start with those and tweak based on my individual set. Rtings.com will also post their calibration settings...though i found that for my particular set (Samsung Q80R) their settings were too dark and yellow. Found some on AVS that I was able to work from that were much better.
A professional calibration will usually be around $150, which frick that. Especially if the TV itself only cost $600.

I bought a TCL 65R635 and got it in yesterday. I haven’t done a full calibration on it yet. But I used this test pattern (youtube link) and adjusted the screen settings and it looks great!
Pictures from my phone hardly do it justice. So far I’m really happy with it.
ETA: Aside from the picture quality, I have to give the speakers on this TV an A+. I had initially set some money aside to buy a good sound bar. Typically with these flat screens it's hard to get quality sound. But holy cow was I impressed. I may not even buy a sound bar.

Between your post and FedGov being stupid enough to give me another stimulus ... TCL it is

I bought the TCL because we got my a PS5. There arent a lot of sets that carry the 2.1 right now. Plus there arent any games where the full capability of the PS5 is needed yet. I'm going to wait a couple of years when 2.1 is the standard and still have the 4K 120Hz at a better price.

same here. i'm debating 65" vs 75" on the TCL. thinking i'm just going to spend a couple hundred more and get the larger screen.

Man my local (lafayette) Bestbuy does just about as much as possible to talk you out of the TCL or Hisense
They have them over there in dimly lit corner playing 1080p St Judes commercials

Do they have the 6 series in stock? Their website says unavailable. I ordered mine from Walmart and they did freight delivery. Came via EFW freight. I didn’t want to risk putting a big arse TV in back of my truck.
I did experience my first minor hiccup with the TV. Last night it would not play anything Dolby. It kept buffering and timing out. It was only Dolby vision content and nothing else. After a little bit of google searching, I reset the network connection on the TV and that fixed the problem. I really hope that doesn’t happen often, cause that could get annoying. Although, it is minor.

They have a 6 series up on the wall in the "bargain area".. and while it does look good, I dont think its playing content that can really show what its capable of
Meanwhile these Vizio M series are showing these 4k videos of macarons rolling around... color is insane

The Vizio M series isn't half the TV of the TCL 6 series too.

Probably not. Cause let me tell you, the TCL looks phenomenal. There’s a Dolby app that I installed in order to test Dolby vision. And the picture is amazing. Once again, my phone hardly does it justice.
