Help me fix my computer

I don't know what is going on with my computer but something is definitely wrong. It's crazy slow while on the internet, like dial up slow. It takes forever for pages to load & often times they timeout because it takes so long. I have Avast one essential installed & it's not picking up any threats. I also installed malwarebytes, it shows nothing as well.
I did a speed test & I'm getting roughly 90mbs up & down. I cleared the cache & all my cookies, that didn't help at all. I feel like it's malware or something like that but I am having a hell of a time figuring it out. Anybody got any ideas?

Back up all of your important stuff on an external hard drive or flash drive and do a clean install of Windows.
Don't install Avast, the built in Windows Defender is good enough. Avast comes with tons of bloatware.

There has got to be some tool out there that I can run to clean this thing up without having to completely reinstall windows...

In the address bar of an explorer window, type %temp%
Then delete everything you see in there (close out of everything else first)

This may be true. But also you've already installed some "tools" that are full of bloat. So my first recommendation would be to stop installing bullshite on your comp.

I work in IT and 99% of the time computers run slow is from old people downloading random shite they don’t need.
You should do a fresh install of windows like suggested above. Write down passwords and programs that you need and just download them again.

Download Malwarebytes and run it multiple times. I just found 800 items on a relatives computer running it multiple times. Free trial lasts 2 weeks and the malware removal stays on for free.

Could be the hard drive dying, or some driver issue. Back up anything you care about now if you haven't already.
Might try picking up a new hard drive and doing a clean install.

I don't suggest using Malware bytes at all. Another useless program that bogs down processing.

I work in IT. I suggest turning it on and then off again and see if that works.

BS...Windows 10 is one of/if not the best OS released, outside of custom Linux builds, ever.

Sure there is....but it will be back in the same shape it is in now inside of a month.
Backup and fresh OS install is the way to go. It's takes time and effort but it will correct the problem. From there watch what you install.

Do you have any other issues with any other connected devices using your router, or is it just your computer?
Sounds like whatever DNS your router is using is crap. A lot of default ISP DNS servers are notoriously bad and can cause issues like this. I would recommend trying either Google (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or CloudFlare (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1) and seeing if that fixes your issue.

Upgrades to speed up an old PC...
Hardrive to SSD...
Increase RAM...
Change OS. If you are using it primarily for internet, try CloudReady. It is basically a free version of ChromeOS for installing on non-Chromebook PCs. I run it on a ten year old desktop and it is snappy.

You may want to change the DNS your router is using. There should be a setting in your router. Go to opendns.com for the ip addresses to enter.
For the lazy: 208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Disconnect ever other device/computer/wireless... disconnect everything but just your computer directly wired to the Modem. Turn ALL SOFTWARE off.. everything. Turn Torrents off.. strip your system down as much as possible.
Now run the speed tests. Is it still slow?... run various TRACERT commands to big destinations (google.com, Yahoo.com, Microsoft.com, etc) ... do you see any similar patterns in the results?.. slowness in the network at a particular point?

Do you have a lot of neighbors that your wifi is picking up?
Most routers attempt to auto change the channel to the "best" one. Most routers suck arse at this.
Download wifi analyzer on your phone and find out what channel is getting the best wifi signal for both your 2.4 and 5 ghz networks.
Login to your router and manually make each network use the best channel.
