You have to search for...

"That's Dumb. That IS dumb gif tenor" (or whatever gif you are searching for)

That'll weed out the yarn nonsense.

This is annoying but it's a yarn issue, not a Google issue.

Yarn doesn't do normal gifs anymore

You have to do -site:getyarn.io in the search to avoid them

whatever. i'd never heard heard of yarn.io until like 2 weeks ago when google switched all of their results to this site.

but its not a google issue, thanks for that fresh take.

so simple, so natural.

Just did a google image search for "laughing gif" and I don't see any results from Yarn. This sounds like it's more due to your browsing history or the type of gif you're looking for than anything Google is doing on their end.

desktop or phone?

i was trying to find a funny gif from 'the burbs but its been every gif lately

note the NON yarn links aren't even close to the gif i'm looking for and if i click on the yarn gif; google gives me 8 more 'similar' yarn gif links

You just probably didn't realize you were using it. It's been a gif factory for years, but it changed from gifs to videos (not sure of the file type) and you can't direct link on here.

What part of this is Google's fault?

The most popular gif app changes and it's their fault?

I agree Yarn is shite. 100%

Notice that I'm using Bing. Same issue with Yarn dominating the SEO. Multiple Yarn options

Previously on desktop. Just did a phone search for "the Burbs gif" (obviously I don't know which one you're looking for ) and only got two Yarn results in the first two dozen or so. Tenor makes up the overwhelming majority of my phone results with a sprinkling of Instagram and Imgur.

In his defense, I just googled on my phone that exact search and the majority of returns are in fact from Yarn, but considering my previous results on this thread, I'm thinking Yarn might just have a bit of a niche for Burbs gifs

the burbs fine christian name

i find it hard to believe that this site that came out of nowhere in the last 2 weeks is the only place with gifs of that quote.

i'll look up my search history because this isn't the first time; the last 4 or 5 movie gifs i looked up were the same thing.

the 'tenor' hits had nothing to do with that quote.

Why is Yarn so bad and why is it so dominant in Google searches?

right, but look at the top replies; started 10 months ago:

Just dropping by from google wondering the same thing - 5 years later, only 50 members in this sub, and this 5 year old thread is still in the first page of the sub. I feel like that says everything that needs to be said about yarn as a service. It's a bloated nightmare of SEO that has dominated search results, yet is so unwanted that almost nobody on earth talks about it.

I really feel like I didn't start seeing all these yarn results until a few months ago, but now they're pretty much all I see and they're pretty much all terrible.
