would maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Because it finds all of my audio only cast devices with no issues.

I guess next you'll say I should sell my entire Sonos collection and buy a few shitty Google pods to use for speakers.

I wouldn't tell you to do that because I really don't care what you do.
I was just offering a suggestion. Man you're kind of a douchebag, huh?

but that wasn't directed at you as much as google turning into apple and making their only music service snub sonos so you'll buy more google.

Won’t be long before Sonos forces you on their music service. But your speakers will probably be obsolete by then anyway.

Google only allowing casting to Google speakers is a very apple move. It's a bad look. I don't have any Google speakers in my house outside of my Google home and Google minis, but I don't use those for music.
But luckily all of my surround sound and patio speakers are connected with a chromecast audio so it finds them no problem.

Google, at times, have seemed ashamed of their brand. They've so badly wanted to be that alternative to Apple in some areas and they've never been afraid to spend money to buy/absorb/incorporate other brands, but it can be frustrating for users.
I never got on the "Play Music" (or movies, for that matter), because I quickly saw they were moving to make YT their media brand.

I will say, the UI of Youtube Music is miles better than GPM.

but I LOVE ad-free YT and I like that YT videos are integrated - helps me find music for my toddler that's been curated by other parents
I'm the only one in my family that uses Play music but my wife and kids would lose their minds if I took YT Red away from them. I'm gonna have to keep the family subscription even if I don't use YT music.

Show me a screenshot with a Sonos speaker and not a shitty Google speaker.

Good luck in the future with that.

Oh I'm sorry did Google not discontinue this product 2 years ago?

pretty sure this entire thread is about google taking away features their music app has had for years and forcing a video app on us which *gasp* only works with their chromecast products & speakers.
so pretty sure i'm on topic.

Fwiw Sonos and Google are in a lawsuit, so that explains it. YTM isn't going to be completely locked in to Google speakers from what I read.
Now who knows if Sonos, in particular, will ever be supported.

you can always play YT music within the sonos controller but its incredibly limited and frustrating.
i was so used to being able to cast to sonos within the app like pandora and spotify and every other streaming music app on the planet.
