Google Pixel in in the wild

If Google really is about to announce the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4, expect days like today to become commonplace. I’m talking about the amount of leaks, of course. Shortly after talking about potential Pixel pricing and carrier availability, two new photos have appeared and show both phones both front and back. At this rate, October 4 might be pretty damn boring. So what do we have here? Well, above we have the Pixel XL on the left and the regular Pixel on the right. They are both white and silver with fingerprint sensors situated in the middle of some sort of glass or plastic plate that has been rumored previously. The rest of the body is metallic and looks identical to HTC-made iPhone knockoffs of the past. Funny, because HTC made these phones. On the fronts of each phone (below), we are seeing lots of bezel, more bezel, and then a sensor or two in the middle of more bezel. $650 worth of bezel, to be exact. Oh, and a boot animation that was found in the leaked “sailfish” dump that has been floating around for months.

I just can't get over how much they look like iphone 6/6S with the antenna bars and massive bezels. Well besides the glass/fingerprint scanner on the back.

Does Apple have some claim on the placement? Having the sensor on the front seems more flexible, I can easily use my thumbs in addition index fingers and don't have to actually hold it to use it. This seems like being different just to be different. Can an Android user tell me how it's better? It seems kind of limiting on the back.

The fingerprint scanner on the back is handy since your finger is already right there while using it, that's about it. Samsung ha shad fingerprint scanners on the front home button for years.
It really does look just like a iPhone.

On the back works ok, I have a G2 with the buttons on the back. Android has put buttons on the back for awhile.

Samsung, HTC, and OnePlus all have fingerprint sensors on the front

Wow. Watching MNF and pixel commercial just aired.

The best feature of the phone is the hardware, Snapdragon 821, the first and only phone this year to get to use the 821. 10% improvements in battery life and performance over the 820, they claim.
Supposed to be one of the best chips Qualcomm has made/revisioned.

The Snapdragon 821 is engineered to deliver a 10% performance increase over the 820 with the Qualcomm Kryo quad-core CPU, reaching speeds up to 2.4GHz. Why would you introduce something to replace what many consider the best mobile processor available today? Simple, we’re not. Rather than replace the Snapdragon 820, the 821 is designed to complement and extend the competitive strengths of our Snapdragon 800 lineup.

People so edgy about phones are fricking pathetic.

Unlock with a code
Sounds like the position of the sensor should be somewhere else then

If you don't want to pick your phone up off your desk. You can just swipe to unlock.
On Android there are trusted devices. If your phone is connected through Bluetooth to a trusted device you can unlock without a code of fingerprint. If you wear a smart watch, fitness tracker or any type of Bluetooth headphones you never have to worry about unlocking your device.
There are also trusted places. You can set certain addresses like home or work or certain wifi and your phone won't lock.
There is also trusted voice. Where your phone will unlock by voice command.
I personally use trusted device or smart lock. As long as my watch is in Bluetooth range of my phone I never have to unlock it. If sit my phone down and leave the room then a fingerprint or code is needed.
Fingerprint on the back is the best place because it's the most natural especially when sliding a device out of your pocket.
