I have a business gmail and I'm system admin. My google chrome browser keeps reverting to fricking Yahoo and yahoo sucks. The main issue is I use maps a lot and yahoo doesn't have a maps program. If this was someone other than gmail/ google I could maybe understand this.

I have gone in and deleted my other "preferred" browsers multiple times, changed my preferred browser to only allowing google, etc. It keeps happening. I have it saved as a bookmark but its still aggravating.

Any suggestions on what my issue maybe?

Check for plugins and/or extensions that have been installed in Chrome, odds are something is defaulting you to Yahoo.

I'd wager this being the case. It sounds like something was installed accidentally or by a malicious program or link

Mine does the same thing after a restart. I don't think it is a plug in or extension. The only one I have is Adblocker

Every chrome update changes the engine to secure search for me, which is yahoo. Aggrevating, but at least it isn't often

I can't say this definitively, but here is my take. I do not use Chrome, I use Brave and Edge.

The app stores, including apparently the Microsoft App Store on Windows, provide higher ratings to apps that are recently updated. I've read release notes which directly said that the app was only being updated to keep the ratings high ( I can't remember the app.)

Each time most apps are updated, they reset your preferences, force you to login again, etc. There is no reason, at all, I have been pushed to update 38 applications between Thursday and today. It's particularly infuriating with home security stuff, because you stop getting door open/close notifications, because you don't realize you've been signed out, etc.

I believe this is what it is because it comes with some new computers. I deleted it but I think it still has an extension or something I need to find.

I just can’t believe secure search by yahoo is ever a default for a google app.

You need to run a malware scan.

Chrome is running very sluggishly... Almost locking up at times... It has been doing this for at least a week. I have cleared out the history.. rebooted and it seems to run okay then it starts after a few hours of use...

I thought it was multiple tabs open was the cause but that has been proven not be it..

Anyone have any ideas?

ETA I have run a malware scan and it is clean..

It is an extension you have added. I had to delete them all and they tried to reinstall a few times. After you reject them a bunch they give up finally. But yeah, Yahoo sucks.
