maybe if apple actually had a bug bounty program something like this would have been exposed by white-hats long ago :shrugs:

On the first day of 2018, a researcher using the online moniker Siguza released the details of the unpatched zero-day macOS vulnerability, which he suggests is at least 15 years old, and proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit code on GitHub. The bug is a serious local privilege escalation (LPE) vulnerability that could enable an unprivileged user (attacker) to gain root access on the targeted system and execute malicious code. Malware designed to exploit this flaw could fully install itself deep within the system. From looking at the source, Siguza believes this vulnerability has been around since at least 2002, but some clues suggest the flaw could actually be ten years older than that. "One tiny, ugly bug. Fifteen years. Full system compromise," he wrote.

The fact that it’s stayed hidden this long kinda speaks to the whole fact no one really cares and helps macs out.

yeah...uhhh...I'm just pointing out how ridiculous your OP is. Computer systems have bugs, bounty programs or not, some of them are very old.

my co worker hates macs, but management made him get on one anyway for support reasons. So he installed windows 10 on it to "resist".2

I think in general, anyone that has such a high opinion on one OS vs another and feels the need to shite on the other OS is a person that needs more hobbies than computers.

Apple ran a nationwide TV ad campaign that did nothing but shite on Windows. And it specifically said that Macs don't get viruses. It's karma.

Well, when it's your job to support operating systems and the networks that they run on for a living, people tend to have a favorite.

I’ve never had a PC last more than two years.
I have two Mac Pro’s, one a 2009 and another a 2014, that both still run fine like the day i got them.
The day a Mac stops working after 2-3 years is the day i’ll consider giving PC a chance again.

Likely buying a lower cost machine and user error.
People bitch and complain when they buy a crappy $400 windows laptop and try to compare it to their $1200 MBPs
