It is currently available to all Pixel phones 4 and up. I went and checked and the images are there for 4, 4XL, 4a, 4a5G, 5, 5a, etc.
You can force an OTA update using the OTA link above if waiting for auto update is taking too long.

My wife has a Pixel 6 and it is not available yet. What is so important about this update to 13?

Nothing. It is just a new OS. Everyone gets excited about getting a new OS.
So far, it really doesn't have any tangible changes.

I just checked and it's available to download on my pixel 6 today.

It's available OTA for my Pixel 6 Pro. I'll wait a month for the first update to fix any bugs and for apps to also make updates.

Yep. Mine showed up over the weekend some time. Took a while for mine. Only thing I have noticed so far is the change in appearance of the music player on lock screen.

probably not necessary. it's not some huge UI overhaul update. in fact its mostly just FIXING known bugs. so no real reason to wait.

My wife's Pixel 6 screen went all blurry until it was turned off and then turned back on.
