Disney+ causing my Firestick 4k to freeze up

Gonna post this on the Tech Board and the Movie/TV board, see if anyone has an answer or can help.
Have Cox cable and internet, Firestick 4k with Prime, Disney+ and HBOMax.
Yesterday I decided to rewatch Hamilton, it got fricky, and then froze. Video froze first, could still hear audio for about 20 seconds, then everything stopped. STOPPED- could not back out, no response to Home button, nothing. Had to unplug the firestick to reboot, and tried again, several times. It kept repeating the same thing; it would play awhile, then freeze up the firestick. Image remains frozen as long as I leave it on that input. If I change input on the AV reciever and then come back, screen is black.
Have since tested out with a couple of movies on HBOMax and some stuff on Prime, no issues at all. I cleared cache, changed out the batteries in the remote, tried everything I could short of uninstalling D+ and reinstalling it.
Things got a little weird after trying to rewatch the last episode of The Mandalorian awhile ago, I had to reboot the firestick (unplug it) then, and it behaved afterwards. Seems to be no problem with any other service, had no problems with D+ before then.
Anyone having this happen, any ideas?

Did you try resetting it?

A ps3 game would bog down a ps2 system. Maybe the stick is less than you need.

With Disney+, I have cleared the cache, still seems to have some issues. It seems to be the actual app, if I log in with my profile I get to the home page and sometimes it will get sluggish as I scroll down the rows... but at that point it still seems to respond to the Home button. Maybe with a delay, but it will then go back to the Firestick home page after a second or two.
If I can navigate to Hamilton, I do get the "resume" option, and seemingly can pick up from where it happened. I did this a couple times, after restarting the Firestick. It will play a little while longer, but then I get the same issue... I wouldn't think it's buffering because it completely stalls the firestick. Can't go back, can't get out, etc.
Now that I think of it, first issue seemed to happen when I tried to watch The Mandalorian, episode with Ahsoka in it. Seemed to be heavy buffering, lots of pauses, ... first time any issue with that service and I'd seen most of the MCU stuff in 4k without a hitch.
At the time, I switched from my regular wifi (stick says good strong connection), to the 5g wifi (said it was weak, suggested I move it closer)... despite the warning it would play without any more problems.
I check my Cox usage, and I'm way beneath my cap each month, and nowhere near it now.
Speedtest says I'm getting 176mb download, that should handle any streaming.
I've been able to stream Avengers Endgame (4k on D+) at the same time my son was playing an online game, some shooter, neither the stream nor the game was affected. Seems to be plenty of bandwidth to go around.
I guess the next step would be to reinstall D+, see if that fixes anything; but it feels like it's just pissing in the dark.

Try reinstalling the app. If that doesn't work, another option is to factory reset the Firestick. I had to do that once, when mine ran out of space and uninstalling apps did not help.

One of ours is having a similar issue but it doesn’t freeze. Disney plus takes about 10 seconds to fully respond to remote commands. What I mean by fully is it will pause video but the audio will still play for 10 seconds, then when you unpause them video will play and ten seconds later the video unpauses. It’s maddening.

Unplug the router and modem for 30 seconds then plug them back in.

this.
every firestick i have has turned into a sloth. even after factory resetting they run like a pig. i think they are suffering from 'update-itis' where newer updates slow older hardware down.
i have the 4K fireTV box and 2 sticks i bought on prime day this summer and they're all slow as hell.

but the Shield is still king.
and on the purpose of this thread, the Disney+ app sucks. it is so laggy. I run it on a shield with gig fiber.....it is the weak link.

Streaming 4K content on a fire stick is risky. Why not upgrade to a premium streaming box?

I just think Disney+ was poorly created, or the Disney+ servers are bad. I have fiber internet and it constantly buffers on my PS4 and AppleTV. Everything else works completely fine with no issues.

idgaf what anyone else says you need to hard-wire your TV. can't imagine those 70GB 4K REMUX files playing on the various TVs in my house through WiFi no matter how strong you think your signal is.
every tv gets wired and then i never think about it again. thats whats so great about having ROKU built into the set.

So uninstalling/reinstalling seems to have done the trick. I did an online chat with them, that's what they recommended, said it was something fairly recent that was happening.

I had all kinds of problems with that 4k Firestick.
Bluetooth connection falling off.
Not connecting well with my Plex Server.
Stalling and freezing.
I replaced with a new ShieldTV. Problems all disappeared.

Fire stick have short lives. I use the Shield Tube, but I hear really good things about the new Chromecast with Android TV if you're ready to move on.
