I've been able to get rid of the Americans who were calling by taking the option to hit 1, which apparently takes me off of their calling list...

But now, I'm getting 20-30 calls a day from all over the country, I let a lot of them go, but would love to find an option to get my number off of their call system...

Any ideas?

I set my iPhone to not ring any calls not on my contact list or who I have not called previously. The calls show up on my "recents", but I at least avoid the constant ringing.

I once blocked a spam number. It tried to call me about 40 times over the next 2 months. If they don't get an error message, they know it's a valid number.

I just get back at them by pretending to be a sucker and "falling" for the scam. Then I try to waste as much of their time as I can.

Since it's an overseas call center I use names like Ben Dover and Pete Moss. If they ask for a credit card I give them a depleted Vanilla gift card and get the numbers wrong the first time, since I'm old and can't see very well.

That's not how this works. By pressing 1 you confirmed you are a real person and your number was put on a list and sold to the scammers in India as 'verified good numbers'.

I made the same mistake a couple times, now I get 30+ scam calls a day. Using 'Call filter app' from Verizon and my block list is over 200 numbers deep, now 1 or 2 get through a day as they spoof the caller id, but they get added to the block list.

I have anecdotal evidence for this, my wife got the same calls, and never pressed 1 to be removed, and she gets 2-3 spam calls a day compared to my 30+.

We got an email about a Geek Squad purchase thru Best Buy. Called the number and gave them some BS. Then verified thru Best Buy. Two days later, i called the same number again and phucked with them some more.

If you have a Samsung Galaxy or android phone go in google (Play Store)

iphone in Apple store

in the store: SEARCH TRUECALLER. Download TrueCaller & click install-- it is free and you dismiss later when it wants you to upgrade.

It will ID Spam and Scams and then hit block. It will eventually block them all out.

there is a new scam on marketplace where people will buy your item and send a CASHIERS CHECK that bounces a few weeks later DO CASH ONLY and meet at a neutral place.

I love to mess with them, if there's a real person when I answer I'll ask about there name, do they have a girl/Boy friend, are they hot? Etc; Texts I just ask them to forward some out of the air amount of money to "this" number via PayPal. Never received any money, texts have practically stopped, and nobody wants to talk to me anymore.
