How can you see how much you use in a month? I don't see it on bill. I'm not capped yet, and haven't received the email notice. I pay 75 per month for preferred. When I first got it my monthly charge was just over 50 per month. Now it's almost 80 total after fees and shite.

You have to log into your online account and look at the data usage meter; *if it or your Cox internet is working.

Whether it's working is something of a toss-up lately for me.

If you have the "Cox Connect" app on your phone you select "Internet" from the menu and it will show your usage.

Still have DirecTV. Me, wife, and 3 young kids remaining under roof. 2 girls (10 and 11) and the wife stay on smart phones when home. My girls cheer competitively, so they're not home a ton. 6 year old boy plays games and watches videos on his kindle and my PC. I watch movies at night with Cartoon HD and my chromecast. Stream some LSU with ESPNgo app when necessary. Stream Spotify to the surround sound outside sometimes. Here is what I got off the app:

See, that's where this doesn't impact you. My TV provider is the DirecTV Now streaming service. So anything I watch outside of broadcast signals via antenna or blu-ray discs hits my data usage.

Also anyone who these data caps effects should start tracking their data usage on their own with the modem or router. If your numbers look different than Cox's tell them to frick off.

Cable one had a big mess up with this last year and people were getting logged for data even though the turned off or unplugged their modem.

Same here but I doubt it. Most customers don't have any other option for internet. AT&T's internet service is very limited in a lot areas. Sadly I think this could force some cord cutters to go back to cable TV or satellite TV.

I cancelled my cable probably a year ago so I only have Cox internet now. I got the email about the new limit showing my last 3 months of usage. I tried logging in online and on that app and both say my account is not active, so I can't even check my usage as I go. Nice.

I find the timing of this really odd, especially given the fact that ATT is deploying more and more fiber and offering no caps at the highest tier.

Alternatively, what if COX offers an internet plan that is unlimited for $500/month and makes it where you are incentivized to move back to cable? I hate the cable companies but I can't blame them for trying to keep their cash cow fat and healthy.

I'd be fine if there was legitimate competition involved. Unfortunately, there is not.

Utility companies are a protected monopoly. A regular business cannot do this type of things.

We do too, and that is just with two TVs and a laptop. Looks like we're going to have to turn off the auto-play on apps like Amazon Prime and Hulu. Falling asleep while 3 more episodes stream away could cost you $10 or more at the end of the month.
