Convince me on Apple Touch Bar

Am I crazy in thinking it's just dumb? Sure it might be marginally useful, but just seems pointless to me.
Are there some major benefits I'm missing?

Pretty much sums it up. It's a nice feature, but not a must have or a game changer.

Greatest thing since sliced bread. Worth every penny!

Played with one today. Cool but gimmicky.

This is the first year ever Consumer Reports does not recommend Macbooks. The king has died.

Did the company that killed the headphone jack on phones because "courage" keep it on their laptops?

Yep. Thinking a suped up 2015 model is the way to go now

I have tons of Apple gear but these "change for the sake of change" innovations are puzzling.
I won't be buying another iPhone without a headphone jack.
I won't be buying an Apple laptop that requires a dongle to use a full sized USB device.
Hopefully they will get the point when sales drop as I am not the only one.

I'm a photographer and have loved my Apple gear for years. Have bought several laptops, iMacs, iPhones, etc.
The loss of a headphone jack doesn't bother me as I have bose wireless headphones. The biggest "frick you" from Apple to its professional users on the new model is the dropping of the SD card slot. That could be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Forcing pro users (the ones that built your brand), you start carrying a bunch of stupid dongles to make the fricking laptop useful is.....mind numbing.
This is a case of "selling out". Trying to maximize their appeal to more and get more buyers. In the process, they're pissing off the professional users. At this point, I can no longer justify paying double for a dumb shite computer that is basically useless on its own.
My next laptop will be last years model or it will be a windows machine.

I bought the new non-touch bar one.
I don't like it. Battery life varies wildly from one day to the next. I've gotten as little as 4 hours use. The keyboard is terrible, even though this is "version 2" of their butterfly key stroke, it's very bad. And yes, requiring a dongle, a hub, or a fist full of adaptors is pretty annoying in practice. Worst of all I don't notice increased performance over my 2011 Air - I see the spinning wheel far more often than I expected.
I'll probably return mine to Amazon and wait for the next one. Beautiful screen though.

One of the biggest reasons I continue to use Apple. Other companies are closing the gap quickly, though. The surface studio edition has me really entertaining a switch.

It's awful, I just spent $1000 on the HP spectre x360 and couldn't be happier.
