Am I going to lose some pictures, contacts and/or apps? Or does everything seemingly transfer somewhat flawlessly

You will only lose your pride.

You dont have to lose anything if you are willing to take the time.
I'm not sure there is a single universal solution but there are methods and/or apps to transfer Contacts, Photos, passwords, etc. I switch between apple and android at times so I use the following:
Contacts: I use my gmail contacts as phone contacts on both apple and android so they are always updated and in sync
Photos: I backup my photos to my amazon prime account because it gets free unlimited photo storage. So as long as that app is installed I always have access to all my photos regardless of device
Passwords: I use bitwarden as my password manager. This keeps passwords sync'd across apple, android and my PC so that I never have to worry about losing them.
Text messages and call logs might be trickly. I'm not sure if there is a way to transport those from iphone to android easily or at all, especially if you were using iMessages and not standard texts.

install google photos on your iphone and let it back the whole thing up before you move over and you'll see them on your samsung straight away

Thanks man. I just downloaded Amazon Photos and I'm backing those up. I'll figure out how to get contacts backed up to a g-mail account shortly. Contacts, photos and some in app configuration are the things I'm mostly worried about. I'll probably have to deal with the in-app configuration as they come up. They can dump my text history for all I care.

I believe you should be able to copy all your contacts from your icloud account to the gmail contacts within the "Contacts" app on your iphone.

Lose my phone number. I can’t deal with that green bubble shite.

Good call, left the iPhone at 7 and wish I had left sooner.

Download Samsung Smart Switch on your new Samsung device. You can move almost everything you have listed via cable or Bluetooth.

Something is, it's the best selling phone.

And an F150 is the best selling truck, but there isn't anything special about it either.

I'm reading this comment as a tongue in cheek joke, but in case you're serious, I don't care if your texts bubbles are pink with purple text from a Samsung phones. I'm going to give the Samsung a whirl and my iphone friends can all not respond or deal with it.

I was on Android since the beginning until the S22 ultra. Wife begged me for years to give Apple a try. I’m not gonna say it’s all bad but there’s a few things that are important to me that this phone just sucks at. It’s just as buggy as any other phone I’ve ever used especially when they add a new feature. Soon as RCS is adopted I’m going back too late to upgrade to the S24 I’m a latest and greatest guy I’ll just wait for the S25 but plan on going back.

No, in 2023 Apple had the top 7 selling phones globally.
I like both platforms, I'm just saying obviously they are doing something right.

Iphone is a phone. Android is an operating system. There are some great Android phones, and some basic shitty ones that sell millions in 3rd-world countries.
You can’t compare the two.

We’ve all got that friend in the group text with an Android that fricks up all the links and videos people send.
Don’t be that guy.

They're all poor and not AMERICAN!
I'm truly kidding, I like apple and android, I just like apple better for the ecosystem.
