Moving into a new house Saturday with a full Control4 automation solution in place. From what I understand there is quite a bit of flexibility in the system. I assume there is a server that orchestrates to connectivity between devices.

There’s a lot of info out there. Does anyone run this platform and can give advice on interoperability with the Amazon / Hue stack?

I’m having the local dealer come out and get it setup but was curious if that was necessary based on your experience.

Thanks.

I've never used c4, but I have looked into it some and

will be a common thing if you like to make changes. Maybe there are some things you can do yourself, poster TigerWise might be able to answer questions.

My in-laws had Control 4 and it was the biggest clusterfrick I’ve ever seen. Stay away.

Its good if you don't like to tinker and move things around your house.

You'll be friends with the local dealer. Lol.

But when setup it is pretty cool.

They walked us through their setup and they could at least do this from phone without being on the network.

View all 6 cams one at a time or at once
Every bedroom has a zoned tv connection and in ceiling speakers with light controls
Locks and garage controlled on app
Video doorbell
Pool robot

I’m coming from a basic Alexa setup so this was desirous. I would likely never bother with routines. I can write a little code and familiar with servers and networking.

I was hoping to keep it to divest in some of the other ad driven automation solutions I have now. Hesitant to rip it out at the moment,

Hopefully with a few appointments I can get it dialed in.

Which director does the project use? EA-5, EA-3 or HC-800?

What version software is the project on? 2.X or 3.X?

Do you have controllers in each bedroom, and if so what kind (EA-1 or HC-250)?

Do you have touchscreens?

Which doorbell, DS-2 or DS1?

Be careful with Control4. It was designed as a dealer service item only, and that service is expensive. Typically $150 - $200/hr service fees.

Anything that starts with HC, as in HC-800, HC-250, HC-1000, is no longer supported. HC-800's are capable of running the latest 3.X software, with limitations, all other HC-XXX equipment is not compatible.

I can go on if you like.

That’s a lot to unpack. I’m going to leave it up to the pros it sounds like.

Sorry to carpet bomb you, but to answer your question, yes integration with Amazon / Hue and other systems is possible if you have the newer equipment and V2.8 and higher software.

yep... C4 is great and can do almost anything but you have to have their tech do the work. you want to change the name of a light bulb, they have to do it. you want to add a new switch they have to do it. Its the biggest gripe i have about C4.

I said it was designed as, I never said it was the only option!

There looks to be an active C4DIY community out there, so it's definitely capable of being programmed by the homeowner.
