So, Youtube decided these are of interest to me, and I started watching a bunch of videos on them, especially, Cheapaudioman. I probably do not need a new amp/receiver for my main speaker zones as the Pioneer I have now seems to be carrying the load well. Still, I am curios. Any of you fool with these? Was thinking of buying one of the ones with a DAC to experiment with by running some left over outdoor speakers as a sound bar replacement for the outdoor TV. Would a lack of a center be terrible?

amazon

I bought one of these a couple of years ago to power my outdoor speakers. I velcro'd it to my tv mount. It has bluetooth as well, but I mainly use amazon music from my tv into the amp. It's been outside under a large overhang since I installed it, and still works great. Works really well for powering my outdoor speakers. I run a powered subwoofer off of it too. It is pretty damn powerful.

I ended up buying a Fosi with an optical input(DA2120A). I set it up for TV sound through my leftover Klipsch outdoor speakers. Very happy so far for TV on the patio.

I have a couple of the really cheap ones. Don't have them in front of me, but the brand names are typically Lepai, Lepy, or Kinter. They all sound good, especially the ones that have the original Tripath 2020 chip in them. The newer ones use a TI chip that sounds more sterile (but still very good and clean) to my ears.

As for the lack of a center, you could always run a subwoofer with high-level inputs (i.e. one that just piggy-backs off your L and R channels). Not 100 percent sure any of those are waterproof, but I'd be surprised if such a thing did not exist.
