I mean your thread title is "why I should PAY for shitty ESPN" but you aren't paying for anything... If you can't see the problem here I don't know what to tell you.
And like I said before, I do the same so I'm not judging

I'm curious about where to find these reliable streams when PSVue or ESPN app lags or cuts out

Specific statute in La. Not sure about Cads state. Probably federal crime as well.

I used to fight the shitty ESPN streaming myself. I had sling tv and it would ALWAYS freeze multiple times during every game. So I logged into ESPN and though it was a little better, it still would always have some sort of hiccup also. I got to where I ended up using pirated streams off reddit cfbstreams or nflstreams. Then I used psvue and had 100% good luck with an ok picture.
With it going out, I looked and Comcast had a deal for me to get tv/dvr/and gig internet for $5 more than I was paying for internet and psvue. The HD picture is 2x better than what I was getting off vue maybe even more than that. AND hopefully I'll not hit the bandwidth cap every month. I'm sure in 2 years, I'll be switching back to something else but for now I'm going to enjoy having a stable game experience. My wife always wanted to have parties around games and I wouldn't allow it because even with psvue, it wasn't near the quality experience normal people have that have cable/sat.

multibillion dollar company chooses not to fix arguably a top 10 app for downloads across all platforms.
CAD cites how 100 different pirate streams can provide a flawless experience so why cant Disney figure it out?
A: they don't want to.
TD responses "well CAD shouldn't complain about a broken app he refuses to purchase until its fixed and he shouldn't point out that pirate streams work a billion times better than a company who does streaming as their core competency."

this place never ceases to entertain.

Again man, your thread title is misleading. That's my only gripe. You are complaining about paying for a shitty service that you aren't actually paying for...
ESPN/Disney has no obligation to provide a person who isn't even a customer with a good product. If your mother in law wants to start a thread on here complaining about her service, then I'll actually care since she is paying for it. But you aren't, yet you kept posting about paying for it...

Where did I say I had already purchased it?
And why should that matter anyway?
Will the product magically not suck if I changed my login ID?

If you paid for ESPN (cable, satellite, or streaming service) you would be using a different method of watching their program and you wouldn't have to settle for using their shitty app.
No one is defending their app and multiple people including myself have also stated they had problems.

how dare i expect them to sell me a product that works!
Also here...
So multiple times you say you've paid for it.
I get it man, the app sucks, but you can't steal a product and then complain about the quality of said product. Do you start threads about shitty cam quality movies on cinema also?

No, but you would have a valid reason to bitch about it as you would be a paying customer at that point.

That's for distributors of copyrighted content. And, again, "theft" is not the word here. You seem to know a lot of words. Choose another one.

How is that in any way responsive to what I've posted (legal basis for actions for IP infringement, which is certainly based on deprivation/conversion)? Hint: It's not.

In the situation you described in the OP, no.
If you want to start creating random scenarios where you are away from home and have no TV around, you would probably be using the service provider's app when you realized ESPN's app sucks.
Either way you are watching the game which is a pretty good reason to pay for the service over relying on someone else's login info and ESPN's shitty app.

I more than paid for my espn programming. Mine wasn't through the app though, mine was straight off their website. Still didn't work. It's not the app, it's their stream that feeds the app and website. This National Championship game is the main reason I went ahead and went back to the cord with comcast. I'm not chancing a thing since we're not able to be there live.

Kind of rich to lob out "you know a lot of words" when you're trying to save a flailing argument with incomprehensible nonsense like "that's for distributors of copyrighted content."

I don't know what's so hard to understand here. In order to make the legal argument for infringement being "theft", you had to introduce the concept of the theft of goodwill from the copyright holder. The word is a slightly better fit here, if only because someone is deprived of something. But it is not the content that the owner is deprived of. Rather, it is something intangible.
My response, though, pointed out that this offense is committed by those who redistribute unauthorized copyrighted content. NOT by those who consume it.
"Theft" is a very simple word with a very simple definition. Applying it to the act of watching illegal streams is metaphorical at best.
