C band reflector based sattelite system

In the early 80s in Northeast Louisiana I remember seeing some Home c band satellite reception set ups. They had a feed horn on a stand aimed at a giant metal grid reflector that was stationary and it picked it up. I’m not sure how well they worked and I don’t remember them being around very long, but I wanna see anybody remember them.b they didn’t seem like they would be very flexible.

No reason in particular.
I just figured maybe someone had seen them other than in this area.
They were trying to be a home "simulsat."
It probably didn't work well.
KNOE in Monroe had one of those Simulsats. Had a huge barrier around it due to a AT&T microwave beam.

Most modern sat companies are using Ku/Ka bands
The older C band stuff has been phased out and that specturm is being allocated for more 5G.
I know there is a lot of opposition to the moves.

KNOE too that thing down long ago.
