Just bought this LG 75” LED for $600 off as an open box for pickup tomorrow (also got a 5 year geek squad warranty) . What should I be concerned with as far as the open box is concerned??

quote:

Open-Box Satisfactory Minor to moderate cosmetic signs of use possible Any signs of use will not impact performance Nonessential parts or accessories may be missing Products in Satisfactory condition show minor to moderate signs of use that affect cosmetic appearance, but have no impact on performance. If the product has a screen, it is intact and fully functional, with no visible blemishes in the viewing area. (A Satisfactory product does not include dents, chips, cracks or deep scratches.) In addition, original packaging is typically not present, and nonessential parts or accessories might be missing, such as a commonly available cable or remote (identified on each individual product). Products in Satisfactory condition can be found in Best Buy stores (selection varies), where the factors mentioned above are accounted for in the savings you'll see.

Probably a missing remote and/or some minor scuffs on the housing. I don’t think you should have any issues with picture quality. If it is more than that, return it and try again.

Pretty much every really good tv I have bought has been a Best Buy open box or display. It’ll allow me to get $3K tv for 1/2 the price. I just picked up a Samsung Q90 for $1250

I've purchased multiple items(tv's, and computer monitors) from Best Buy under their open box policy, and never had an issue. That's usually the first place I look when I'm in the market.

You really spent money on a 5-year Geek Squad warranty for a $600 TV?

I have the Magic Remote. frick that! I have the Shield TV with the new remote and it kicks arse. You lose it, you can call it and beeps out ShieldTV in morse code. The Magic Remote is only good for menu items as far as I'm concerned.

I bought a BestBuy Open Box TV last month and it was pristine. It had everything included and everything was sealed brand new.

It wasn't even the Open Box Excellent either, it was like the 3rd tier or something.

I love it. I also got the Geek Squad warranty in case something does happen then they can fix or replace it. I really like the idea of that as well.

Good luck.

Not sure what's so funny about this?

I bought a $600 TV for under $300 open box and got the 5 year plan..

Explain to me how that's a bad decision when I am getting a huge discount and it's only another $50 or so?

I paid around $365 total (tax and 5 year warranty) for a TV I was prepared to pay $600 or so for. I figured since it's open box, why not get the extra protection? I still saved a ton of money buying this way and now I can afford to protect it..

I just don't see the logic to not protect it for five years for such a cheap price.

The TV was $900 and was $600 off. Difference between 2 year warranty and 5 was like $80 so yea if I’m going to roll the dice on an open box I have no problem with the piece of mind given to me for 5 years with the geek squad warranty

So basically, you paid an extra 27% for a warranty on a $300 TV, because the fine print says they can scrap it and give you credit for the $300 if it needs repair, not give you an equivalent TV. Might not be laughable for you, but not a choice I'd have made.

Good for you, though, on snatching a $600 discount.

It's still worth it to me if anything happens in 5 years as opposed to a complete loss. That's a long time.

I am very pleased to know that I will get even $300 worth of credit back if it goes bad.

To each his own though. I understand if it's not worth it to you.

No, it's a warranty on a $300 TV. If it costs too much to repair that TV, he'll get $300 credit spend. After taking into account the $80 or so he spent to warrant it, that's $220.

I don’t understand your numbers. If the tv shits the bed due to manufacture defect or wear and tear they give another tv
