I'm guessing I'll need a cable outlet and plug outlet.

Who's the best at coming to do this? Cox, electrician, or an easy DIY?

I wouldn't think Cox would do anything electrical for you.

I had an electrician friend help with mine. If you know the basics of electrical work, the hardest part is fishing the lines to behind the TV.

If it’s not brick, and you have an outlet on the side of your fireplace, you can get a hide-a-cable kit from Lowe’s for like $30. Comes with everything you need to DIY.

who still runs cable?? most tvs have built in apps and there's roku, fire and google sticks that plug in behind the tv.

all you need is power. i actually ran a power cable up to the trim and behind it and down to an outlet elsewhere and you literally don't even see it.

bought some drill bits that go through brick and using my hammer drill installed the tv mount as easy as on a drywall.

tv has fireTV and chromecast stuck into the hdmi ports on the back.

I did. Hooked up to a massive antenna mounted in my attic.

you only need the antenna cable ran to the hd homerun box which could be in a server closet somewhere.

then you can run the hd homerun app on any tv or phone in the house to enjoy live tv without running 1990s era coax all over your house. if you are a plex subscriber you can even use that app to DVR and pause live tv.

enjoy local HDTV wirelessly on any tv, pc, tablet or phone.

just saying its silly to hardwire coax to a single tv when you could watch it everywhere by using a $30 box.

Which hdhomerun are you buying at $30?

And some people enjoy the simplicity of a digital tuner built until their tv. There's no shame in that.

Yeah I get that but the cable was already there. Just had to tap in to the line with a splitter and it worked without extra hardware.

if you have install a new electrical box, it would be best to get an electrician to do this unless you are comfortable enough for DIY. FOR DIY, you will need to know enough to run it off of an existing outlet without interference from other outlets/switches (this has gotten me once before).

A good electrician can cut the hole the exact width they need for the box, which will also make fishing the line easier for them. Also, there are a number of multi-functional outlets that will let you run Coax, Electrical & HDMI through the wall.

You watch TV standing up? That’s too high for comfortable viewing.

I've never seen that model under $90. It's $110 refurbished right now and $150 new.

Nah it seems right.

20’ ceilings, 65” TV.

Bottom of tv is about 5.5’ off the floor and couch is 10-15 feet back

This is the rare moment when AT&T (wireless DTV and Uverse boxes) is worth having

it does if you're comparing the built-in tv hd tuner to the hdhomerun box. hdhomerun is about 1000x better in every way.

Not a fan of a tv that high. Should be eye level.
