re: AT&T data limits on home internet?

I was complaining because (1) when we got it upgraded we were supposed to have unlimited data and (2) some simple math will tell you at that time we are about 10% data used with about 90% of the month left. For whatever reason our data has not moved the past two days and we are still at 80. And again, I had no idea this was a thing, all I know is we are streaming now so I was worried about that cap. This thread has made me feel better, however! I appreciate all the responses!

LMAO wtf yall downloaded 4k pron or some shite?
An hour of Netflix 4K uses 7 to 10GB an hour
Those digital games on PS4 and XBONE are all like 40GB and have huge updates

Just watch in 1080???
I watch Netflix/Hulu/HBO go combo every night for about 3-4 hours....
I play WoW / Diablo / Overwatch on the cpu for about 2-3 hours every other day.
Blizzard games in general update everyday.... I still have not hit 1TB. Then again I dont have a cap.

First person I have seen switch back, what made you switch? Only difference I have noted is obviously convenience and sporting events are a good minute of two behind.
Directv/att internet bundled promo of $90 guaranteed for 2 years. Price includes all equipment for 4 tvs. Also received a $350 gift card for signing up and 2017 Sunday ticket free.
Since a la carte intenet service thru twc/spectrum is $60/month, this was a no brainer.

If you are a complete cord cutter using ESPN and streaming everything it is definitely possible to rake up date. HD stream is around 3GB an hour.

Online gaming doesn't eat up that much data. It's downloading the games and updates. Unless you are streaming your online gaming.
I also connected to my friends server for movies and might start running my own.
There are no data caps here but where I'm about to move in the states the only real isp has the most absurd ones I've ever seen. For a TB you have to have their gig service and it's $175 a month.

Those games may use a couple 100mbs for a day's worth of playing

I have ATT. The deal I have is no data cap if you buy cable TV from them.
If you are internet only there is a cap.
I can see this being a way the cable companies fight the cord cutters.

That's exactly why they let you have no cap with tv

I don't have AT&T, but I believe I have a 500GB data cap, but I have never gone over that.

What is the specific promotion code for the $350 gift card? I'm switching from Uverse to Directv tomorrow and they only mentioned $100 gift card, plus NFL Sunday Ticket.
Also, does DirectTV have equipment rental fees?

I signed up about a month and a half ago and online they were offering $150 in rebate cards. I called the 800 number to ask some questions, and was gonna hang up on the guy and he pitched me an extra $200 gift card if I signed up with him right then over the phone; I couldn't say no.
No rental fees, hardware for 4 tvs included. No installation fee. The advertised rate is $90, and my bill, inclusive of taxes and fees is $97, which I'm fine with.
I really enjoy the DIRECTV format and user experience. The only thing I don't love is the uverse internet. I previously had cable internet thru twc and it performed better.
All in all, I'm very happy, as I'm saving a ton of money, with only a slight sacrifice in internet performance.
