My wife got me an Apple Watch 3rd edition for xmas. Seeing if it was worth bringing back and exchanging with an uncharge for an Apple 4 or 5 watch? Anyone have one and think the features are worth the increase in price?

Get at least a 4 for the heart monitoring features, 5 isn’t that great of an upgrade so just get the one that is the better deal.

The 4 is bigger too if you’re a guy.

So you’re going to be a dick and upgrade what she gave you? 4 and 5 are not worth the price increase.

Like the other dude, I think getting the 4 is worth it just for the size.
I had both 3 and 4 and the 4 was noticeably bigger (in a good way) and the small increase has really improved usability IMO.

It’s like a 200 increase from the sale price to get a 4. Not worth it.

Agreed with Dam Guide. I have the Apple Watch 5 and I don’t really notice the big upgrade of “always being on”. Save some cash and get the series 4.

I got the 5 after having the original years ago. It’s legit worth it now.

I got the 5. It was my first Apple watch though. I'd go with the 4 if you want to save money though.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. It’s the same OS but for 200 less, keep the 3.

Doesn’t the 5 have more storage and an upgraded processor?

Not completely sure on storage, but i think 5 has 32GB while 4 at least started with 16GB. The processor on series 5 is really just a repackaged series 4 version processor. It doesn't offer any improvement over series 4 processor. The compass, always on retina screen, and the added storage were main added features to 5 which is why Apple dropped 4 to keep the series 3 as entry level model.
I am just wondering who is still selling new versions of series 4. I am just seeing renewed or refurbished versions of series 4 now.

Rumor is that there’s going to be a new watch coming out in 2020 that will have a much better battery life. If I were you, I would keep the 3 and save the 200 to put towards the new one coming out later in 2020.

My wife got me a 4 to replace the 3 that my son smashed.
I am returning it and already purchased another 3. I don’t think the increase in price is worth the features, particularly for the 5 which is super expensive.
At the end of the day, it’s just a watch, and accessory to your iPhone. There isn’t a ton you are going to miss out on with the 3 and I can’t imagine spending more time with it. I love it for workouts.

I think the best value in Apple Watches is a like-new stainless one. If I was replacing mine that's what I'd buy.
The stainless is a big upgrade IMO, but they don't hold the value on the secondary market especially with yearly releases. Bad if you buy them new and want to resell but good if you're willing to buy one off Ebay.

Can I stick my arm in the live well to get a shrimp while I am fishing without ruining an Apple watch if I have it on that arm?

I would think so. I do think freshwater rinsing would be important and you'd need a band meant for it. Silicone is the obvious thought but I think it retains odors so that might be something to care about.
If you currently wear a watch doing it I think you could do it with any newer Apple Watch.

I just picked up a 5. I don’t see myself fishing with it. I’ll strap back on the Gshock gulfman whenever I go out in the boat or surf. When I’m at the camp I don’t want to be connected to the outside world anyway.
