Also I'd expect to see the underscreen fingerprint reader in the next version, but the tech just isn't there.

They weren't able to work TouchID into the the screen
android puts on the back of the phone, that way you can do both face or touch

They need to be able to work with that. Apple could charge good money for a FaceTime "hair and makeup" filter that lets you look your best no matter when someone calls.

Let's take bets on how long before the face ID technology gets called racist after it can't recognize a really dark skinned individual.
It'll be just like that episode of Better Off Ted.

The storage capacity on the varied models makes zero fricking sense. Why is there a 32 and 128 for the seven and the 64 in the 256 for the eight?

It's probably mostly for product differentiation and profit maximization. However, the 8 has a 4k 60 fps camera. 4k video is only 30 fps for the 7 which might push people to do 1080p instead. The videos on the 8 will eat up space a lot quicker.

With the Apple Upgrade Program I'm paying $37.41/mo for the iPhone 7+ 32gb
iPhone 8+ would be $39.50/mo
iPhone X would be $49.91/mo
Sigh. Not sure what I'm going to do. Neither are great, but really no benefit in holding onto my 7+

Apple needs to adopt the proximity lock.
On Android if the phone is in your pocket, it'll stay unlocked, but if you set it on a table or something, it'll lock.

That's beside the point.

I'm sure we'll be able to move on and live without it
I've certainly lived fine without my headphone jack
That's stupid. You shouldn’t have to live without features most phones worth a damn already have. Apple is being Apple and removing features from the phone. They could’ve easily put the fingerprint scanner one the back of the phone and been done with it.
Now next year, they’re gonna come back with the fingerprint scanner possibly under the screen and talk it up like it’s something.
ETA: I haven’t read anything on this new iPhone. Can someone face unlock while you’re sleeping?

From what they were saying in the presentation, your eyes need to be open. It can apparently tell if you're actively looking at the screen. So based on that, I would say that they shouldn't be able to unlock it while you're sleeping.

These scenarios are always retarded. Someone could just as easily put my finger on the home button while I sleep.

Y'all are some paranoid motherfrickers.
Either that or your SOs are legit psychos you need to dump anyway.

The sad thing about today is that The Big Debate is over unlocking the phone. Nothing else. Whichever side of the argument you are on, you are debating unlocking the phone. No other features. Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing that you can actually do with your handheld computer once you get past the screensaver. That is what is disappointing to me.
I'm an Apple guy. The iPhone is the only smart phone I've ever had. I've had the same Macbook for 7 years. It's convenient and the products have worked seamlessly for me, so I'm happy in that regard and so I'm locked in because "it just works". But at the end of the day, it's still disappointing that in their last two phone releases, we've debated a headphone jack and the method to unlocking the screen. And I know this isn't breaking news by any stretch of the imagination because we all have joked for years about how they don't invent things, they just implement it, streamline it, and market it better than their competitors.

I'm just not a fan of the recent trend "addition" by subtraction for no reason by Apple
