Music and pro users were the focus.

New colors for the homepod mini
newly designed AirPods
and a significant refresh of the MacBook pro with M1 pro and M1 Max. The performance of these laptops is crazy fast and good.

for those who missed it

Personally, my current MacBook Pro is sufficient for my needs, but it makes me dream. I'm not a pro user, but I'm sure some apps could see a boost if I got the M1 pro mac.

For the pro user, this is a pretty fantastic upgrade to an already powerful laptop. For the average consumer, it's a nice thing to have, but you probably won't come close to using its full potential.

It's obviously got a hefty price tag. The 14 inch pro starts at 2K, while the 16 inch pro starts at 2.5K while the m1 Max starts at 3.5K (edit: the cheapest you can get the m1 max chip is 2800)

At-least the base memory isn't too bad, 512 GB for the M1 Pro model and 1 TB for the M1 Max version.

Think I'm going to trade in my MBP for a 16" Pro. Just getting rid of the stupid touch bar is a big enough reason for me to want one LOL

Brought back magsafe, hdmi, and SD slots... I'm in. Been avoiding the upgrade because those were missing and the stupid touchbar...

Same. I have a 2013 MBPr that is still powerful enough but the only reason I never upgraded was because I didn't want to lose magsafe and physical function keys.

These new macbooks are probably too expensive to justify the switch. What I have still works well. But damn, they even added the sdcard slot back.

edit: I don't like the black keyboard well.

I’m looking to upgrade my 2014 MacBook Air but this is probably overkill

Likely will wait until they refresh the Air. Hearing mid-next year.

You’d probably be very happy with the current m1 Air if you’re ready for an upgrade now.

Am catching up on the vids from yesterday. These new laptops are seriously impressive (potentially). However, they're absurdly expensive.

Yea, I actually think Apple needs to dial back these events but guess they can't due to shareholders. Having a release to announce color variations of homepod mini's is silly. Yea it was more for the apple macbook laptops but meh, these events are getting bashed cause they're not releasing new products but I think they simply have too many events.

Imagine having to do these 3-4 times a year with supply issues. Didn't they just make a "cloth" and overprice it? For fricks sake... stop! And I'm an apple fanboi.

The cloth is ridiculous, it's like an Onion/Babylon Bee article about Apple.

I also do not understand the magsafe obsession many Apple people have.

I'd love to swap my 16 inch pro for a new one but I probably can't justify it

Ordered mine yesterday. Do the educator pricing (they don't verify) to knock $200 off.

Got the mid tier 16" (regular $2699) for $1225 after trade-in (of 2019 16").

BTW you inspired me to do this

I was on a mid-November ship date, saw they had it locally so I just cancelled and got it courier-delivered to my office for 10 bucks.

Do you have yours yet? It looks like a brick but it's a nice brick

It's showing mid-November for me as well, but people with early Nov ship dates are reporting to have received them earlier this week on reddit. Wouldn't be surprised if mine showed up next week. Everything to your liking so far? How's the notch

I do like it. I wish it was a little nicer aesthetically but I knew it was a chunk going in. And a lot of the seemingly-added bulk is an illusion because of the removal of the taper. It's very high quality in build as you'd expect.

It runs cooler. Screen is great. Notch doesn't bother me at all and seeing people talk about how turned off they are by it (on this or iphone) is weird to me (and I like a nice form factor so I'm not immune to such things).

It's pretty noticeably quick. I opened up Premiere/Capture One to tinker and that is where the difference was immediately apparent. It also didn't get hot/loud.

Battery life is pretty great compared to the 19. I worked from home yesterday, taking it off the magsafe at 8AM with probably 9 hours of screentime on and off, and didn't put back on the charger until I went to bed at 11:30 (probably had 15% left).

Original delivery date for me was Nov 5-10. It got pushed back 2 weeks, but I got a shipping notification last night with delivery of Nov 16.

I’m a lifelong windows user but have been wanting to switch to a Mac for video editing.

I’ve been planning picking up a redesigned iMac but decided to wait for the new MacBooks to see how powerful they’d be. It looks like these will crush the video editing that I do so I grabbed one.
I picked up the low end M1max in 14”, it was a customized box so it won’t ship until mid-December.

Do you guys know some good resources to get some Mac 101 education? I’ve literally never touched a Mac before.
