I'm starting to think I'm weird because I've literally never charged my phone and listened to music at the same time.

If I charge my phone I just listen on my computer.

The mistake by Apple was not including a lightning pass through/daisy chain dongle. Charging while listening to earbuds is pretty common at the end of the day for anyone that watches video or plays games regularly.

It'll be fine. Far more people will buy the 7 and grumble "Apple is fricking stupid, why'd they do this to us" than will refuse to buy it because of the absence of a headphone jack.

Or a mophie? Or maybe airplane mode with no apps running in the background. I flew from DFW to Hawaii with my 6+ on airplane mode and listened to music all 8+ hours and my batter went from 92% to 78%.

Yeah, but then you only have like 10 hours more of battery.

Do you have a journal of your battery use or just total recall?

Don't forget the 10 additional hours I get from my Mophie.

I have shares of AAPL.

Doesn't bother me in the least. Apple's stock has stayed relatively steady regardless of whether or not Android increases/decreases in popularity.

I went two weeks ago and remember it specifically because I was worried about it possibly dying.

It may not affect sales much, but it won't be fine for 6 months to a year when a 3rd party comes out with pass through earbuds. All I'm saying is that for probably less than $5 a unit they could have nipped this in the bud, no pun intended.

I'm 26 and honestly don't know a single person, who isn't in the music industry apart from myself and I own both, who uses wired headphones. It's all bluetooth because it's easiest for working out.

I'm 28 and almost everyone that I know uses the earbuds that come with their iphone.

Rivals will make jokes at their expense, and get some benefit of it. In time, as BT audio continues to improve, other makers will do the same.

Apple will celebrate their innovation and ignore the advances that led other companies to eliminate the wired option.

luckily the new phone still comes with buds.

i made switch to bt buds and couldn't imagine going back. also, the last 10 or so guys who came to work on my house (alarm co, cable, etc.) all wore bt buds all day. i think it's pretty common now.

this is just another area where apple is ahead of the game imo. the 3.5 jack is outdated, and has always been pretty shitty to me.

But that actually sucks. I charge my phone at my desk while I listen to music every day.

I cannot do this now.

This. And no more charging in the car while plugged into the auxiliary jack... can't do that now either.

Frick Apple.

Maybe some sort of lighting splitter will come about as a compromise.

I have great klipsch head phones I paid for and love. The microphone works great for conference calls, they are incredibly comfortable, and have awesome sound.

And I never ever ever have to remember to charge them.
