Looking for updated information.

Backstory - tried about 2-3 years ago to go from iPhone 4s to Galaxy S4/5 (forget which one). Ran into the issues that many have and did everything that Apple told me to do short of changing my number. Unregistered my number and signed out of iCloud on every iPhone I have ever owned. After Apple's latest endeavor to slow down my phone "because of the battery," I have decided that they suck. Looking to switch and just curious if they've resolved some of the headaches. Last time I switched, I couldn't get text messages for up to 45 days.

TIA

I switched from iPhone to Google pixel. Transition was a breeze. I'm three months in and don't plan on going back to Apple.

Switched a couple of years ago. No real problems. Sure there are small issues every once in a while, but same thing happens with Apple. That Pixel 2 looks nice.

I've gone the other direction more recently (flipped back and forth 3 or so times now), but I think the only real lingering issue is probably the imessage group text stuff.

Group texts work, it's just annoying. My friends and colleagues are like 98% iphone so it was a big deal. If that's not the case for you it probably will be less of an issue. Everything else migrates easily in my experience.

I use group messages pretty often. I've little if any issues. One thing I like about the group messages on android, and iOS MAY do this now, is that there is an option to reply to one or only selected members of the group instead of all. (That may have been an option with the iPhone all along, I just never found it).

The only "problem" I had was with group messages. Turns out the other people in the group's phones were still trying to send the message to me using my old imessage address. Once they changed it to use sms/mms, I haven't missed a one.

It took a little getting used to for me but after about 2 weeks, I haven't looked back. Tasker alone has made it worth it.

the real issues continue to be iphone

Facetime was a thing but then DUO app has proved to be a better choice- Group message works great for me and more often when iphone users have an issue it is on their end.

After Apple being exposed and now a class action suit- why would you trust them?

left iphone for Galaxy 6, and now have moved on to latest Galaxy and will purchase the Galaxy s9 when it comes out next month

Iphone continues to lag behind.

Switched from Apple to Android a couple years ago. Switching was not difficult. Will never go back to Apple. I prefer the Android operating system and features to iOS and I like having options on what phone I can buy rather than being forced into whatever $800+ phone Apple is rolling out this year.

I like a lot of Android products, I just think it's funny that you're asking about Apple and trust when you own a phone by a company whose products were so problematic we had to make air travel restrictions

Don't mean to hijack, but am considering making the move to the pixel2.

How was it getting used to the pixel after coming from apple? I have been using apple exclusively since the 4s came out, but really like what I'm hearing/seeing with the pixel 2.

Do you like being able to choose anything off the menu or having daddy order for you?

Obviously there is a learning period, as the two are different. But if you're even a little tech savvy it will be no problem. I went with the 2 xl from an iPhone 6s and love it.

Biggest complaint I have is sending GIFs through texts has been tricky. When I try to send them through Facebook messenger it tells me they are too big to send, and when I send them through stock messenger they will send, but will sometimes compress really small or speed the GIF up for some reason.

Show us on the doll where the mean apple product touched you.

Funny that this is your go to. I am only on my 2nd iPhone and I switched to apple because I did not like the Android options back in 2010/2011, and liked the integration to my MacBook. Since I rarely use a laptop anymore, I don't care whether or not they sync. And the reality is, I have had my current iphone for about 2 1/2 years now, and it still works great (have not noticed any major slowing). I don't plan on upgrading until it dies, and with the way it's going I may be able to squeeze another 6 months to a year out of it.

Only thing holding me back is the iTunes. I have bought way too much in iTunes to change over to something else. If someone tells me I can get iTunes on a droid phone, I'm out.

I had to go the opposite route bc my primary phone is my work phone. Our corporate VPN works on iOS better than android so I got my first iPhone back in October. It’s an 8+ and I fricking hate it. I’ve had nexus and galaxy devices. I much prefer the pure android experience of the google phones. The Samsung flavor is better than iOS but if I had my way, I would be rocking a Pixel.

My backup phone is the one I hang on the family account so I always have a redundant option is a nexus 5x. In all honesty I prefer the nexus 5x with Oreo over this iPhone.
iOS is clunky and the setting being outside the app drive me fricking nuts. Additionally after 6 or 7 or 8 years of android I’ve come to realize that the ‘back’ button is a requirement for my use. Oh yeah... Apple’s Voice to text sucks arse next to google.

I went from iPhone to pixel as well. It took about 3 days for my number to be removed from the imessage system. After that, no issues

I just went from a 6s to a LG stylo 3. Paid 225 for the phone. I am surprised I like it so much.
