I like both Linux Mint and Ubuntu. They are both very user friendly.
Any suggestions regarding other distros?

I use Linux Mint. Only downside is I can't play Civ or Madden on it. (Wine doesn't run those games.)

Only use them within my VMs. The support for major applications and games just isn't there yet to make it my full time OS

Have you tried the Linux Steam app? I think it has Civ.
My son is obsessed with Battle for Wesnoth which runs well on Mint.

I run Manjaro on three laptops and a desktop at my house. It's stable and runs almost all software that I need. I highly recommend it.
EDIT: I am not a gamer so I have no clue on that front.

I've been using Gentoo as my main OS for a couple months. Every distro I run I end up wanting to change certain aspects in ways that I fear will end up breaking the system. Now I just run Gentoo which essentially is a package of scripts that allow you to roll your own system by compiling packages from scratch.
I passthrough my Nvidia GPU and a separate NVMe drive to a Windows VM to play games and run Windows-only applications.

I've been 100% Linux for 15 years. I don't do much distro hopping, usually stick to something debian based. I do change desktops often, though, and I usually have 3 or 4 installed at any given time just to keep up with what's going on with them. Been using mostly KDE for a few months now and it's nice.

I'm currently using Ubuntu and Kubuntu.

I put linux mint on all my progress machines. Its just easy.
I've played around with Kali linux. Comes pre-loaded with a ton of interesting network tools.

I have been running Linux since before Katrina. I no longer remember what year I started, but I think it has been more than 15 years. Today I am exclusively Linux Mint. I have it setup to dual boot with Windows on all but my main Desktop PC. I keep windows around for certain things. One being proprietary software in the industry I used to work in.

Thanks. I'll have to check into that.
I'd be looking for 2. I have an old, offline 7 computer but it runs 2 poorly.

Civ 5 and 6 both have native Linux releases. besides that steam does a great job of facilitating using proton. Last 3 games I played were fallout 4,mass effect Andromeda and Witcher 3 all on Ubuntu. Sometimes requires a few minutes of digging on protondb to find what version of proton to use and any other tweaks that might be needed but overall it's pretty awesome.

I run Kali Linux on VMware from a Windows pc and I run Kali Linux on a Raspberry Pi 4.
I use only Kali for hacking/pen testing my company's network. I use Windows for my every day PC and for work.

My wife and son use Linux Mint on their desktops and laptops.
I tend to use Linux Mint or CentOS for my primary workstation, but always have a variety of other distro's installed alongside or in virtual machines.

I’ve gone back to Win10 + WSL. Running Ubuntu 20 straight outta Win is the bomb.
