There are usually apps that will get around this by setting up tethering in the app, but Sprint generally blocks access to them in the app store. So you'd have to side load it (download APK and install it).

Not sure what all will work (my Verizon grandfathered plan has unlimited data and hotspot add on so haven't really messed with any third party apps).

A few of my settings:

Nah bro. Set double tap to lockscreen/sleep. Set hold home button to google assistant/now. Set single tap home to go to settings. Very convenient. Swipe up and swipe down ditto.

ES File Explorer

Timeley - best alarm clock/timer app on any platform.

Puffin Web Browser if you want to see flash video.

Duo - Google's video calling app

MX video player - will play basically anything, even torrent streams and ace streams.

Google Messenger - classic SMS texting

SwiftKey Keyboard

Google Now

Nova Launcher

Torrent stream controller and ace stream engine (not available in play store, just look up the apk manually)

Those are basically the must haves for me on Android and offer what ios can't for the most part.

On Sprint, it looks as if hotspot enabling is blocked.

I have Sprint and wifi tethering works on my iPhone 7. Are you on the unlimited freedom plan?

I've always done swipe up for Google Now and double tap for app drawer. Two finger swipe for Nova settings.

Set up your always listening OK Google

I had to turn off the always listening feature on my OPO because callers were saying I sounded off in the distance. Fixed the issue when I turned it off

ETA:
textra for an awesome text message app, nova launcher, swiftkey for replacement keyboard, waze, aCalendar for a good calendar widget, gas buddy, google inbox instead of using the gmail app, google keep, root explorer or es file manager, google voice for voicemail in lieu of using your carrier

Sounds like you have it then, as that's the same as my wife and I. It might be a setting with Google, because Sprint support has a tutorial for how to enable this setting on the phone:

If you want to listen to FM radio, next radio is pretty legit.

SNES 9x if you ever get the notion to play super nintendo.

Zedge if you are in to ringtones etc.

This is from the FAQ about the Sprint Unlimited Freedom Plan

quote:

Is Mobile Hotspot part of the plan?
Yes, 5 GB of high-speed data usage for Mobile Hotspot, virtual private network (VPN) and peer-to-peer (P2P) usage comes with the Unlimited Freedom Plan. If you use all of your data allowance, you can either:

Continue to use data for these purposes on our network at 2G speeds (32 Kbps) on an unlimited basis for no additional cost
or

Purchase more on-network high-speed data for these purposes for $15/1GB to tide you over for the rest of your bill cycle.

Maybe try contacting Sprint support and see what's going on?

I'm not sure about Sprint, but it seems most providers don't allow tethering on unlimited plans. As you can imagine, you could mow through some data, if you used it as your main source of internet for streaming at home.

Will do, but I do recall them mentioning that a Hotspot was not included in my mobile plan, because of unlimited and no throttling.

Biggest app I miss when I used Android is Mightytext:

LINK

Allows you to interface with default message app and text from your computer. In myoffice was a huge productivity app for me.

Used to use mighty text. Think they started making you pay for it or at least for unlimited usage of it so I just switched to using pushbullet which can push multiple types of notifications as well as SMS back and forth convos.
