Amazon has really stepped in it with me this weekend...

Started a side business recently. Made a purchase that's really imperative to the success of my business and the margins it makes. It was supposed to be here Friday evening. I should've been working since then.
Instead, FedEx screwed up my delivery. Called Amazon when I got notified yesterday. Said they didn't have a good update and that I needed to call FedEx. Called them and got ZERO response or resolution in two attempts. Couldn't guarantee the package until Tuesday at best and told me to call back this morning because they couldn't even give me an accurate guess on where it was or what shipping estimate was there.
Called Amazon back and they ordered another one with next day shipping on the house. But that won't be here until Sunday...two days after Prime promised. Emailed back to Amazon to express my displeasure over the situation and got an email back saying-politely-oh f*cking well.
Meanwhile I'm not even comfortable taking work and am missing the busiest part of my side hustle's work week.
It's one thing to get the wrong tire or a Columbia T-Shirt with a pull in it. That shite happens. But when you contact customer support, you get a free month of Prime or 10% a one time purchase. This is way more important, and $13.99 for overnight shipping still pushes me 48-72 hours after my promised shipping.
TLDR: Amazon really let me down.

Maybe plan ahead next time?
shite happens with shipping.

If it's that critical to your business why don't you have a spare? Amazon can only do so much. There will always be errors.

Valid question. I'm just starting the business. I am trying to cash flow my overhead on big ticket items and go in with zero debt.

So purchasing the product as soon as I possibly could using a shipping method that would allow me to work isn't planning ahead. Got it. Thanks.

Amazon is a shell of its former self.

As soon as you could without going into debt as you start the business? That's not entirely feasible if something is imperative to your side business.
If a part is so critical to your success, why would you start without having it in hand? That is like opening a restaurant on a certain date because that's when the food is supposed to arrive. It's just asking for Murphy's law to strike.

FedEx let you down, not Amazon. Once you reported it, Amazon did the only possible thing to remedy the situation and that was to send you a no-charge replacement overnight. What more could you ask?

Without going into detail, it's incredibly easy. I'm not here to debate my business strategy but to lament a failure of a business to meet my customer service needs.

So fed ex screwed up the delivery and gives you a run around every time you call. You then call amazon and they are sending you another order for free to make up for FedEx's error...
Why exactly is this an issue with Amazon again?

Exactly, maybe go ahead and pay for next day shipping if this is something so vital to your livelihood.
Are you going to give your customers their orders free because the package wasn't delivered? This is what Amazon is doing to make it right even though it is not their fault the item wasn't delivered on time.

Because their solution doesn't solve my problem? Is this difficult to understand?

It's not vital to my livelihood. It's important to my business, which is a side hustle. But that doesn't mean it isn't as important. I love how this is somehow my fault.
I purchased a product using a shipping method that met my needs. Due to shipping issues, I reached out to the vendor and the shipper and neither could resolve it despite effort on the retailer end.
The plan on my end happened as quickly and efficiently as possible. shite does happen but I'm still not happy, and that doesn't mean this isn't a customer service issue that's my fault on any level.

And what exactly did you want them to do to solve your problem? You paid Amazon for 1) the product plus 2) the cost of paying FedEx to deliver something on time. FedEx doesn't do their end of the bargain, so you call Amazon and they're willing to give you a second item FOR FREE plus pay the shipping company next day shipping FOR FREE and you're still upset with Amazon? What more are they supposed to do? You gonna be mad at them until they invent a time machine?

Well, it isn't planning ahead enough because here you are without the product you need, aren't you? Next time plan further ahead.

Yep. My fault. Totally. Thanks for proving that to me.

Yes! It is your fault!
This is another example of why just-in-time procedures can cost more money than they save.
Your last second product delivery was late and it adversely impacts everyone else down the line.
P.S I cringe every time someone uses FedEx to send me something. They rarely get it to me on time. UPS is always on time and the postal service is more reliable than FedEx.

I've seen the light bro. I'll be folding up my tent ASAP as a result of this enlightenment. No hope for me after this monumental business blunder. I'm doomed...and it's all my fault.

This thread went real well for you.

Sucks, dude. I know you were hoping to get that costume jewelry order ready. You're in a competitive market and Amazon failed you.
