I know there is a huge Cord cutting thread but it seems to have off and on activity.

I'm ditching COX since they will not work with me on my bill and trying to charge $190. I'm trying to decide between You Tube TV, Direct TV Now, and PS Vue.

They all have about the same channels I would watch with the slight edge going to Direct TV. For sports I have ability to use NFL Network/Redzone and Watch ESPN so I'm covered there. Also can use HBO GO if needed.

They all supposedly have DVR functions and storage. Just looking for anyone's experience with these and if you've tried more than one if you preferred one over the other.

Appreciate any responses/tips.

I run PSVue with the elite package ($54 a month - 2nd highest tier).

I have kids so Disney and Disney Jr are huge and they like Boomerang (cartoons) and Discovery Kids as well. We get all of our local channels, wife gets Bravo and Investigation Discovery. I get ESPN/ESPNU/ESPNNEWS/RedZone, SEC Network, and 15+ dedicated college football channels (ESPN Gameday channels and Big 10 Network - most of these are the more obscure games but whatever). The DVR uses the PS hard drive so we record hundreds of episodes with no problem. I get 93 channels total, if you bump up to the top package at $74 a month you get HBO and Showtime - which I just don't care enough about to justify another $20 a month.

I am military and move frequently (every 2 years or so). I have been thrilled with the PSVue Customer Support. I call and let them know I am moving and they swap me over to the local channel coverage in my new zip code instantly, no interruption in service. As long as I have wifi I can have all of my TV just like normal, wherever we are. This has been huge for the kids when we move, a little stability.

If you already have a Playstation then I would strongly recommend you give it a look.

They all offer a one week free trial, so just do the trial to see which one you like best. I like YouTubeTV best. DirecTV Now was good as well.

I've had Vue, Hulu Live, and now YouTube TV. They're all good, so pick which one best fits your needs.

Vue is the most expensive but gives you 5 simultaneous streams and excellent picture. It's also available on every streaming device except Xbox.

Hulu Live is worth it if you are ok with 2 streams but want their original content. It also changes channels fastest. Also available on every device except Playstation.

YouTube TV has the best picture quality and unlimited DVR, plus it's $10 less a month than Vue. However, you only get 3 simultaneous streams and it's not available on Amazon products and obviously Playstations.

I preferred Vue but I'm more than happy with YouTube TV, probably sticking with it.

They all have free trials. I'd give them a all a shot to see what you like.

I have only ever used PSVue but I consistently see people ranking it with the best DVR capabilities of any of the services.

I'm sure you didn't intend this but wanted to clarify to the OP that you do NOT need a playstation in order to subscribe to or watch PSVue

Great point. My post was poorly worded in that respect.

Thanks for this thread. Also a new cord cutter.

Unfortunately, for some reason, youtubetv is not available in my area. No idea why.

So...this PSVue sounds good. To be clear...one does NOT need a PlayStation?

How good does your internet need to be?

Thanks...yeah, reading all the fine print right now.

New to all this stuff. Always had the cable/internet/phone bundle ...but nothing like that available now....and I do not wish to have DirectTV satellite.

Like someone said above, they all have 7 day free trials so be sure to try them all (no reason not to). Also, try them for the full week to see how they do for your set up (fire tv, Apple TV, internet speed). I noticed some services would run smoother and have less buffering on some devices than others. And try to hit popular programs, like MNF, big college games, or popular shows that you may watch to make sure there’s no lag (this would happen sometimes for events like new GoT).

With that being said, I have DTV Now and love it. Has every channel I watched on cable and covers all the sports I need.

2 tips:

1) If you have AT&T cell, take a much closer look at DirecTV Now. Free HBO, $15/mo off your bill, and can watch from your phone without using data (unlimited data only).

2) Sign up for all the free trials with a trash email. This way you can still use the trials but if you decide on one service, you can still sign up using your regular email and still get the promotions that only let you apply the first time you sign up. (Ex. DirecTV Now has one where you can prepay for 3-4 months and you get a free AppleTV, but you can only do this as a new customer. Not available if you do the free trial with the same email beforehand.)

Hope this helps!

I like the direct tv now the best followed by youtube tv.

I tried the dtvn trial and cancelled the trial then went with youtube tv. Dtvn is now offering $10 off for 6 months.
