I am upgrading from a 65” to 85” tv in my living room. The new TV, when installed, would be roughly 1.5” smaller than the wood beam on each side, about 2” from the top of the beam and the bottom of the crown.

I will be watching TV roughly 10-12’ from where the TV is. Does anyone have a similar setup that they would be willing to share a photo of? I am trying to envision this thing LOL. Any responses are much appreciated!

Some people might tell you it's mounted too high, but it doesn't bother me and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I will tell you though that hanging an 85" is a 2.5 to 3 man job. An 85" is nearly twice as much TV as 65". If you use the same mount, make sure it's rated for the weight. Is the stone "real" or a facade? Is the mount secured to studs or blocking? Be aware that the mount points on the back of the new TV may be higher or lower than expected, and that the placement of your mount and its adjustment range may not work without relocating it.

I bought it through Best Buy and paid them to do it. Not even messing around trying to hang that massive thing. It’s real brick. I bought a brand new mount to ensure it’s rated for the new TV.

Which model did you buy?

And yes, it seems to be mounted too high. And better tilt it down a good bit to negate those overhead lights and glare off the white brick. Also, height will slightly negate the perception of size.

You may also want to consider lowering your mantle.

Enjoy your new beast. BB will do a good job of mounting it.

Samsung QN90b. The mount will be a tilt mount.

Should be a great TV, especially at $3500. I’m debating on this one and the Sony X95K for $4K.

Enjoy.

Best buy has the QN90B on sale for $2799 for Black Friday. I was down to QN90b and the exact Sony and just couldn’t justify spending another $1,200.

I think the Best Buy deal for the QN90b is the best out there for Black Friday deals this year.

Looking at the same tv as well and comparing it to this one at Walmart. Hopefully they will price match.

Read the comparisons in the below link. Only real difference between the two is the 95b has the One connect box that allows you to house all of your inputs into an external box. Just good for thought as you make your decision! This website is great for comparing TVs.

I looked at this one to, and still decided on the 90b

Something to consider. A pull down mantle mount.

You understand your wife isn't going to move her mantle bullshite, and you won't be able to see the corners of the screen, right?

Thanks for info. I do like that simplified for having to run only 1 wire through fireplace wall to my receiver in my book shelf. Final question is the length of that 1 cable?

That's really way too high.. My brother did that in his house. It strains the neck and is uncomfortable.

The picture is taken with me sitting down and I don’t have any issue with how the 65” is mounted so I don’t think it will be a major problem for me.

As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

That being said, I'd never mount a TV that high up.

TVs mounted over the fireplace not only look horrible, but are also a terrible way to watch tv.

Doesn’t have form or function

When I hung mine it was me and one other person. We could have definitely used some help.
