I made this LSU chess/checkers set for a friend. I thought it came out pretty nice, so I thought I would share it.

Nice, did you design the entire thing or use a base from somewhere?

Looks like you got a pretty decent printer, what do you have?

Thanks!

I used some files from thingiverse to get me started. I modified them mostly on tinkercad.

I have the base model Ender 3 with a few upgrades on it. The gold could have come out much better for the box with the layer lines, but I wasn't going to reprint a 32 hour print that was 400g of filament.

Looks good in the pics, I'm sure you can see the mistakes, but the print came out really clean from what we can see. Logos look great.

3D printers are fricking amazing.

i remember being blown away with the first okidata dot matrix printer i owned and now sub $100 color laser printers that print photographic quality is like MEH to people.

once they start figuring out how to integrate multiple materials (plastic, metal, hell even particleboard) into the same printer we will have reached a new age.

Not counting design time that was about 172 hours of straight printer time. 3D printing certainly requires a bit of patience.

That's putting it nicely lol. I have a prusa MK3S, I think I have spent more time printing shite for my printer than I have printing things with it. I'm tired of FDM printing, I think I am going to move into SLA. Get a lot better detail and I tend to print smaller things anyway.

I would love to play around with some SLA. I'm still having fun with FDM. I'm definitely feeling like I need to set up a printer farm to get some of these make times down though.

Nice prints..... wanting to do a chess set, just haven't found the pieces I lkke... will probably draw my own.

Then again I want to print the board too... but in one piece...just about finished building a massive 500mm cube.
My 2 Prusa clones has been busy printing parts!

I've decided that Santa is going to bring me an MSLA/SLA printer to play with this year.

Nice job! I would prefer the Pawns to be a bit smaller in relation to the major & minor pieces.

Looks good. Only thing is the pieces may be a little big for the board, but it still great work.
