2017? The MLS definitely needs more 35 year old players to solidify our status as The Seniors League
I love seeing comments like this, as if guys like Zlatan (or Ronaldo) would be washed up add-ons.

Yeah he can play in the champions league and all but we know the second he comes to MLS he is going to be a washed up, hollow shell of his former Zlatan.

I think just opening up their brand would be worth it for most of these older guys.
It certainly paid off for Beckham.
And Zlatan is the GOAT of self-marketing at this point

Miami is trying to get an MLS team, still, right?
Perfect spot for Zlaten.
No state income tax, Miami Beach life, and would enjoy his days.
This would be a coup, a Star, who's still on top of his game. Not an aging star, on his last legs.

They can't get a stadium deal done at the moment. At this rate, they'll have to hurry to be in at No. 24.

Even with a stadium deal done, they are looking at year 1 at Sun Life or FIU in a similar setup to Orlando this year.

This is hilarious to me. Zlatan in MLS would be a goal scoring phenom. I feel like someone like Zlatan coming over would really give legitimacy to the league internationally. People like Henry, Becks, and Kaka are worldwide brands regardless of performance. Zlatan is still a major force in Europe, and him moving over while still at this level would be huge. That's assuming he maintains this level of play until the end of his contract. Zlatan would be a huge victory for MLS.

People just resort to the tired criticisms of MLS whenever they can.

I would love to see him in MLS but as someone who watches a lot of PSG I can say that he's definitely dropped off a bit this year.

Dropped off? Surely not! He will dominate MLS!
Or at least that is what half this board seems to think.

t's a shame Chicago can't get its shite together. They could be a viable city just like these two.
I don't know. No knock on Chicago at all but the attraction of NY or LA (or Miami) really has less to do with how cosmopolitan the city is but simply its cache as status symbol.
In Europe, that kind of status is afforded NY, LA, Miami and maybe to a lesser degree San Francisco (though naming that club San Jose doesn't help) and really anywhere else is like driving a Ford instead of a Ferrari.

They were forward-thinking in wanting their own stadium, but the location in Bridgeview diminished the attraction to fans and big name players IMO. I've spoken to several people who preferred Soldier Field.

There are a few players who could perform in some capacity at any level until retirement. Zlatan is unfortunately one of those players.
Even with his bionic knee, Kaka is one of those types of talents, too. It's not shameful to have those types of players play in MLS.

This is pretty spot on. Europeans, in general, really only know a very select few American cities: NYC, LA, and Miami being the big 3, followed by Chicago, San Francisco, and Las Vegas as a sort of tier two.

It's not shameful at all. I would be all for it. But it will be a different player.
Henry was a great MLS player. And a shadow of his Arsenal self
