are we giving up on the 3-5-2?

The 4 plays in a sort of empty bucket type shape with Bedoya in the playmaker spot. Basically we have a triangle in midfield between Bradley, Williams, and Bedoya.
Thoughts? I struggled with the 3 in defense. Do you move Cameron up to midfield? I think we have enough midfield options that we can afford to use him at CB. Who starts between Jones and Brooks?
Up top, do we play Altidore and Johannsson and play Dempsey in the hole (where I put Bedoya) and put Bedoya on the wing (he has played wingback for Nantes), or do we keep Clint closer to goal and bring in Aron off the bench? If Charlie Davies becomes a legit option again (gotta bring back the Altidore-Davies swagtastic stanky leg duo), or if Juan deserves the starting job, I think this is an option I could go for. I would even enjoy seeing how Aron does in the hole with Dempsey and Altidore up top.
Diamond 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 are all options, but I think we maximize our strengths and minimize our weaknesses best with the 3-5-2.

You mean that 45 minutes of soccer we actually played that formation in? Ok. We finished that half up 2-1 on Chile before we got worked using the formation you're suggesting. But ok.

A chile B/C team. 3 in the back only works if you have forwards who can hold the ball, and are possession based. We lack the former, and as much as Jurgen would love it, we are not the latter. Like testing out Jones at CB, it is a nice idea, but just won't work with our players.

Jozy and Clint are some of our best players when it comes to keeping possession. We need more than a half of the 3-5-2 to completely nix it.

Brooks is hands down our best option, right now. It's easy to overreact after we get torched by an infinitely more talented Dutch squad.
The Jones at CB experiment has failed. Besler has been garbage lately too, so there's really no perfect option.

Seeing as the only teams we're going to play in the near future in matches that mean something are pretty weak competition other than like than two in Mexico and Costa Rica. Why not run a more attacking formation against the likes of Honduras, Jamaica, Panama and the other sides of CONCACAF?

Considering we are all in on the Gold Cup, I wouldn't want to experiment. We aren't that far ahead of teams like Honduras or Panama. Also, everything in between World Cups is really just planning for the next one. The 3-5-2 is likely dead, so lets not argue over something that likely won't happen again.

Like Omar, he's been caught ball watching at least once every game he's played for the US.
That's troubling.
He does offer a lot of great qualities, but I certainly wouldn't pair the two.
