Don’t expect consistency from the EPL on rules

It will probably depend on the matchup. I bet we see Musah and Aaronson used kind of interchangeably.

Reyna's healthy and where he plays is the wildcard in all of this.

That was my thinking as well. I was curious why he didn’t play today.

If Weah maintains the level he showed in qualifying, who do you drop to incorporate Aaronson? Quite the conundrum.
Happily, some very hard choices if everyone is healthy. If Weah at 9 isn’t an option in Gregg’s mind I think you at least consider changing the MMA midfield to MAA.
But either way if pulisic, Weah, Reyna, Adams, McKenzie, musah, aaronson are all healthy at the same someone very good is on our bench.

I just want to see Weah at the 9 once, it's not like we have other great options, why can't he play a Pseudo false 9 role?
Turner
Dest-Zimmerman-Richards-Robinson
Adams
McKennie-Musah
Reyna-Weah-Pulisic

Agree. I’d loving nothing more than pefok to have a great season but he’s simply not of the same class as our other options. Sitting one of pulisic/Reyna/aaronson/Weah because you want to start Pefok or Pepi or whomever seems dumb.

Augsborg made 3 attacking subs today and none of them were Pepi, unless something drastically changes, he's nowhere near the USMNT at the moment.
I think, if Gregg was making the roster today, the two tru #9 he takes are Ferreira and Pefok with Ferreira getting the start.

Been saying the same for months. He hasn’t been a striker before for Lillie, but I’d still want my best players on the field.
I think Pefok will be interesting to watch for the next couple months. If Weah, CP, BA, Gio are zipping around, would be good to have a big man up top like Pefok for the aerial attack. The man scores a lot with his head.

Yes he has

Weah plays striker in a 4-4-2 sometimes when Lille plays that formation.
I still think Ferreira starts. I think Pefok right now is playing himself into contention. He just doesn’t press like Gregg wants him to. I wish Gregg would at least try Weah at the 9.

Correct, he’s not a regular 9.

Lawd help us all if this is the best this country has to settle with.

Not really settling if he’s an in form striker that fits our system
He had a lot of European interest but signed a DP contract with Dallas. I fully expect him to move to Europe after the WC or after the 2023 season at the latest. At the end of the day you need a guy who is putting the ball in the back of the net. He’s only 20.
Look at our rosters from the past five word cups and tell me who our starting 9 was. None of them were killing it in Europe.

I appreciate your positivity cwil.

I’ve always been a glass half full guy when it comes to the national team. I know it makes me less popular amongst some here but I honestly believe in the process and think we are moving in the right direction, and faster than most people realize.

Same to a certain degree. But I’m less patient in the lack of US development for the past 40 years. Seen enough around the world to know what realistic standards are competitively.
I don’t have faith in the MLS. Therefore, if a player is successful in the MLS such as Ferrera, I know it’s way below going up against the world’s best.
Also, I don’t have much faith in Gregggg. I think he’s a good recruiter/players coach, but his international coaching experience was piss poor. And I’m not sold on him tactically.
We are the youngest team in the WC, we’ll do our best, but 2026 hosting in the US, and these guys in their prime will be the turning point. That’s my positive thinking. I think Gregggg knows it too if he lasts that long.

No, I want you to explain it to me.
A lot of people on here say shite about tactics and don't actually know what that means.
